hello all,
i cant use my (secondary slave) 120GB hd for audio rec or store samples. problem is audio Crackles. but other 2 hd works fine.
couldn't figure it out for long.
Is it all hd>80gb don't perform well for audio?
my setup:
Mobo- Asus P4T
All HD are seagate 7200rpm
P.master-40gb
P.slave-80gb
S.master-dvdrw
S.slave-120gb
thanks

S.master-dvdrw
S.slave-120gb
Bit of a hint there.

1. are you a accessing the Dvdrw at the same time (samplecd's etc)
2. do you have the Intel accellerator drivers installed or appropriate drivers for your chipset if non-intel?
3. Is DMA enabled for the dvdrw?

At the very least I would put the 120Gb drive as master, and accessing the dvdrw at the same time as using the 120gb drive for audio tasks is probably a no go regardless of drivers.

put the c drive and the dvd on the primary channel. put the two data hds on the secondary. be sure dma is enabled.

for that chipset with xp, you only need the standard inf drivers from the install disk or, better yet, the latest version available on the intel website. the iaa is only for raid now(unlike with '98).

no, it shouldn't do that, but just download the latest inf chipset installation utility from the asus site or directly from intel...

the iaa is for raid only in xp.

did you switch the order of your disks so that the cd/dvd drive is pri slave and the other two data hds are secondary slave and master?
