ok... so i thought i had this whole midi thing nailed... and then i bought some hardware synthesizers!

i bought a Korg MS2000R, a Roland MKS50, and a Roland PG-300 to control the MKS50...

I can't get the mks and the pg to communicate... but that is another problem for another post...

my main problem is that i can't get the arpeggiator of the MS2000R to stay in time with cubase. i turn on the arpegg and turn on the click in cubase, and they don't stay on... so, how do i get them to stay on? i was trying to figure it out... but i am kinda lost now.

do i need smpte? or midi clock? or both? do i need to buy something to keep them in time?

on a side note... i just purchased an OMS Studio 64X 64 Channel Cross Platform MIDI Interface on ebay for $25 + s/h.

is this thing good? will i be able to use it with everything? and will it do anything for my timing problem?

I think that you need to make sure that Cubase is sending MIDI Clock...I'm at work at the moment so can't remember exactly where this is in Cubase's menus - I will check this at home though.

edit: also, you may need to turn something like, "MIDI Sync" to "External" in your synth...depends on the synth though.

ok... tried that... it's not working? i have sx set to internal, and i have it set to send out on cw midi i/o 1-8. i tried midi timecode, and midi clock with no luck.

i know the answer is no but i am going to ask anyways... does cubase bieng set to sync externally with the scope asio have anything to do with it? i know that asio is audio and midi is, well, midi...

is there anyway to have scope send out the midi clock and have cubase sync to it?

also, which is best for this application? clock or timecode?

I can sync AbletonLive on another AW with SX. It always sync. SX send only midi clock over one cw midi out to the other AW with one luna card.
Possibly the Korg MKS2000 has a problem?

I think that what you are describing would use MIDI Time Code, not MIDI clock (?)

Personally, I experience lots of problems sync-ing to Cubase's MIDI clock - sometimes it works, sometimes not (e.g. driving a MODIII patch in Scope). Crisis, are you using the "real" midi ports, or emulated ones? That might possibly make a difference.

nope... no emulated ports...

and actually... the korg is an ms2000r...

it's the roland that's the mks-50... just to clarify.
