Hi. I want to use my Pulsar II as a DSP FX unit, like a UAD1 or a Powercore. I want to use a different soundcard which has better converters than the Pulsar. I can't seem to use the XTC plugs in Cubase and use my MOTU soundcard for the audio IO at the same time. Does anyone know an easy way around this?

Thanks

there aren't any cards with better converters that i know of....you can do what you are trying to do, but you're making extra work for yourself and losing lots of functionality.

...is´nt your motu working as standalone adat/analog converter?! I think so...

Ditch the MOTU.

Thanks for the constructive comments...

The Creamware is good, no doubt. It is just that to my ears the MOTU sounds better, just as there are plenty of high end I/O systems that give better conversion than both these.

I need to stick with the MOTU. I'm using a large amount of outboard and I've got 48 analogue I/O that enables me to ditch the mixing desk and give me a very flexible system based around Protools and Cubase SX linked to all my outboard FX. It also enables me to upgrade to 192KHz if I want. So 'ditching' the MOTU in favour of the Pulsar isn't really a workable or efficient option.

I really like the synths, particularly the Modular. I'd just like to be able to use them from within Protools / Cubase while using the full capability of the MOTU on the same machine - just as I can do with the Yamaha SW1000XG and PLG cards, and as I believe you can do under Win 98 with the Korg OASYS

Any constructive comments welcome on how to achieve this would be genuinely appreciated.

use it as hardware. Use the adats out of pulsar to your motu digital ins, and drive modular with midi. Most efficient setup you'll have is using cw as hardware.

You'll be able to use all synths from cibase or protools this way.

I use synths from cw like this :

hardware sequencer midi out -> pulsar midi in -> synths -> adat dest -> adat in of my digital mixer = zero latency synths driven by my external hardware sequencer.

Works for me

Yep, and this is the point where I chime in and mention there's also the option of a 2nd machine running the Scope cards (as well as some of the others).

thanks for the advice guys.

seems a lot of hassle to route digital sounds internaly, but I'll give it a try as some of the sounds are worth it.

thanks again.
