IT sounds mad,but why don't you try to use your game/midi port on your motherboard, this way you can bypass LUNA midi in-out,which HAVE some problems with latest Asus motherboards ... I had many problems with my system, but disabling some USB's solved the problem ..

I've similar hardware (just CPU is a 530 and my HDD are 2 Maxtor, all the rest is the same).
My graphic card is an X600 ati chipset and my HDD are in raid0 configuration.
I use an USB keyboard too (Edirol PCR series).
I'm still working for a more stable setup, but no problem here with midi.

I'm not a veteran, the only advice I can give you is: try to test midi stream from/to CW board with Midi OX, so you can exclude the problem is related to the sequencer software.
I never yet tryed it on my latest PC, cause I don't have any midi related problem, neither with Edirol keyboard cause it came later, but I think it could work fine as with my previous hardware.

Hi all,
I have disabled all USB in the bios .
it still crashes.
I can not use the game port for midi because of the latency.

also I have no IRQ sharing with the luna card .

My keyboard is not routed through USB but directly to the midi in of the Luna.
This is crazy , I have spent lots of money on this new PC . and also the Luna is not that cheap, I would have thought that a ~400$ card should be able to play with midi !

I am realy frustrated I don't know what to do any more.
and no support (at all ) from Creamware.

I don't think about IRQ conflict. I think it's software related.

Format and try with a fresh installation, paying attention when install drivers.

I've fixed something updating bios, chipset and graphic card drivers.

Try Luna midi with Midi-OX, first.

What version of the Luna are you using??
How is your system setup.

You got an odd situation here. so give more detailed about how system is set up. from OS to list of detailed Software.

Do you know if the ignoreportfilter is good for Nuendo2 too?
I've redundant and inactive midi items there..

Hi all ,
Thanks for trying to help.

I use Xp pro.
Cubase Sx 2.2
I have lots of VSTi .
(Vanguard , Kontact, battery and ,more )
The ones that crash the most are the tau pro and novation bass station.

My PC :
Intel P4 630 (#Ghz with 2mb cache )
Asus P5GDC Deluxe mother board .
1G samsung ram (2X512).
2x 80G sata hard disk (maxtor and samsung ).
Antec True power 430 .
ATI X300 Pci express video card.
Maudio Radium 61 midi keyboard .
Luna II sound card. ( I dont know how to check wich version it is , I bought it 2 years ago).

with SFP 3.1c .(Could not get my activation keys for Scope 4 from creamware).

I have this computer for only one week .
I bought it after having the same problem on a MSI board , with a littel diffrent setup.
I have installed every thing very carefully after experincing this problem with the other PC , and it is a very clean install.
Also when I use my second sound card (Behringer BCA 2000 - usb soundcard ) I have no problems and the PC never crash,

After all this (2 PCs and oter soundcard working well) I am sure that the problem is the Luna card,
I have read that othre people here had/having similar problems so it must be CW fault .

Is it an instant crash? Or is there a bit of a "buildup" before it crashes, like MIDI starts lagging/becomes unresponsive?

If you work in SFP mode, try loading a MIDI Monitor device, and see what kind of MIDI messages are going thru. Try filtering out System Messages (clock, etc) and Active Sensing if you see any of those. Also, make sure you have no MIDI loop going on, as that will overload the MIDI connection and eventually crash the system.

did you install XP or it came preinstalled?
do you have SP2 on

are running in standard mode or ACPI mode?
What IRQ Luna is using?
what else is on that IRQ?

powersupply is not the problem.
It seems so far how the system is setup.
I don't think it is the CreamWare card/software otherwise this would have been everyone's complain.

very easy to point at CW. I suspect it is your system and the way it is setup.

It does not matter if it is the 10th new PC.

Pre built systems with OS are mostly useless. and OS need to be redone from scratch.

Scope Platforms require a custom built systems. There are lots of good systems listed on this forum.

Hi,
I am running in ACPI mode ,
I have installed the XP myself ,
I have SP2 but it happened on the 2nd PC with out it as well as with it.
the Luna is on IRQ 21 and it is not shared with any other device .
I have the midi filter on and I have put it before the input of the midi sequencer .
I have filtered all midi data except for midi control and note on / off .
the cubase have midi indicators and nothing is going in unless I use a controll or press a note on the keyboard.

The crash is instant , the PC suddenly freeze and the sound is stuck (playing a short loop of what was playing ).
The only way to free it is to do reset .

P.S: 430W should be fine in order to use this CPU as most PC I know use much less.

Also I have chosen this system configuration by my self. after reading lots of reviews and articles and also checking things on this furom. I dont see what could be better on this system - ecexpt of maybe the samsung hard disk and the CPU fan should have been a Zalman , but the CPU has no heating problem .
All n all I think this is a very good setup.

You're right Symbiote, midi loops do crash systems

It seems to be just the minumum recommended by Intel, if I well remember.

Hi,
I have no SFP synths , but I am pretty sure that it is related to the ASIO interface with cubase.

Asio it's not related to midi.
Audio tracks use asio drivers; you can try setting different drivers in SX (then using different in/out modules in SFP) but I'm sure it's useless.
You could download some free third party synth
