I'm happy to announce the Rotor EX! I ended up putting quite a bit more work into it than planned (but isn't that always the case?), but I'm very happy with the results!

For those of you familiar with my older "Rotor" products, this has almost all of the previous functions of those, with an added level of modulation capability unavailable with the earlier designs. With a total of 16 oscillators (with a variety of types, including sample playback), two extended mode filters, 4 envelopes (one 8-stage looping env), 2 LFOs, stereo panning, ring modulation, a modulation matrix of 4 mod paths, and a total of 5 Rotor objects in the system, the Rotor EX is suitable for expansive sound layers and textures, strange and organic, with FM possibilities as well as other hybrid structures. More details will be posted on my site over the next few days.

Looking to ship within the coming week, the Rotor EX will have an introductory price of only 99 Euros!

Cheers,

Start saving your money ! an another GREAT synth to hit the Planet !!
Those who already loved using the rotors in Solaris will dig this turbocharged version !

Many highlights, one that I appreciate ( among many others ) is that you can put up to 4 modulations on a single parameter, also a clever buttons colors system that save space as in : first column to the left, modulation source # 1 you click and color indicate modulation target.

This synth is generous and quite deep in its possibilities and the purchase of the Red Dwarf modules is highly recommended to further expand the sonic range.

I cannot dwell too much for now since I'am making presets for it, I will try my best to make some " not too weird presets " but cartesian presets are definitely not my forte and this synth is meant for exploration whatsoever !

I'am on 6 DSPs, many times I was a little too short to play 2 voices @44.1 or 48 KHz so all my presets were made on 1 voice and frankly it's not too much of a problem considering the awesome sonic output !

And finally, I'am really glad because it sounds like nothing I heard before when you explore ( even slightly ).

Really excited to hear about this - I really love the rotor synth - it is capable of creating some quite unique sounds, and is quite a step away from the traditional VA synth, even though it's quite a simple architecture once you get the idea. I'm really looking forward to seeing this enhanced version in action.

Hi,

I've posted a few examples of some of the presets. I thought I'd give 2 'extremes' - there's some "movie effects" sounds (mostly made by decimator), and some "new age-ish" pads played by me (guess I'm showing my age  though I also created the 'alien sleep cycle'!)

Just go to the zargmusic.com site and click on the link to the MP3 Demo page (under Products & Demos).

regards,

Just a quick note - there's some great new presets for the Rotor EX Demo now available in the Devices section. These new presets by Carl Lofgren and Paul Kuchar display more of the incredibly wide range of sounds available with the new Rotor EX.

Many thanks to Carl and Paul!!
