After a year & 1/2 of using my laptop/Magma rig, I'm currently shopping for a dedicated Mid-Tower. After shopping around for RAM, I had a few questions.
I'm looking at these Crucial Ballistix DIMMS, and they're 3x the price of some Kingston Value DIMMS. Now I know memory is super important, but Kingston is pretty damn stable, in spite of my preference for Crucial. It seems, besides marketing, the main differences in spec is a .5 CAS latency difference.
Obviously there are other differences, but in terms of what I can use to compare anticipated performance differences, does a CAS latency of 3 have much impact on audio recording, or is it just a gaming thing?
Either way, any other recommendations for well-balanced (cost/performance) RAM would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Sam
