I'm after a retail boxed one, the muppets I bought from (pcloaded.com, and their customer service is appalling, don't ever use them) sent me an OEM chip (ie: no warranty from Intel) and a used (yes, I did say used!) crappy cooler.

They offered to take it back but Northwood P4's seem a bit thin on the ground nowadays.

Where can I get one? or, alternatively...
How much discount should I ask for, I've been billed about £240 so far...

I ordered a 3.4 northwood through etech4sale.com in the states...

They eventually couldnt supply and I managed to get a 3.0 locally.

Now they call and say they have got a few in physical stock.
CALL THEM NOW BEFORE THEY GO OUT THE DOOR.
these are very rare worldwide... also expect every online shop you look at to have an out of date inventory

Sounds like I'll stick with my OEM chip (which I have in my hands  and be happy about it...

The intel boxed coolers aren't exactly that good anyway.. you can pick up a decent quiet cooler for £20-30 (you can pay a lot less if you aren't concerned about noise).

Incidentally, if anyone is looking for a Northwood in the UK, http://www.ebuyer.com has them (OEM only).

It's actually the warranty I'm concerned about.

I'm putting the chip in a Zalman case which has its own processor heatsinks and NO FANS

From that point of view, the fact that the chip doesn't have thermal gunk all over the top of it is a great bonus

I THINK IT WILL BE PRETTY SAFE.

p4's dont die if over heated anyway...they just shut down.

Zalman just announced 2 more in their noisless case line at ceBit

Wow you have the Zalman case? I'm jealous

I'm not sure how extensive the warranty on the retail chips is... I have a feeling that if you run the chip with a fanless cooler the warranty probably is invalidated. I could be wrong on this though.
