Has anyone tried to change the explorer shell with Scope program?
I was playing around with that. There is setting in registry that selects the OS's shell:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon] "Shell"="explorer.exe"
I changed it to cmd.exe, which is the command prompt, however the problem is that it does not display system folders (probably there is a setting I don't know about) and all the taskbar apps are gone (can't start).

I don't know, I was just fooling around, I guess I got tired of the Explorer interface.

How about working with blank desktop, showing just some sort of tray and a clock.

Left-click clock for browser (explorer), right-click for TaskManager. Then a programs list for right-click in empty space and switching programs using middle mouse click.

Or anything else you were thinking of... There's a couple of script-based shell replacements out there, check them out!

Some time ago i used AstonShell in place of explorer, in some ways it's much more usable, at least it is faster and managable shortcuts (assignable to any key, not only shift+ctrl+alt+tab+Z  ) rulz.
also i still cannot find a replacement for aston's notepad (it is always open and autosaves info)
