Hello

I left My computer on with a project loaded and went for a tea break....after an hour I came back and found a blue screen with the above warning...It seems a memory fault, but if anyone has any operative suggestion, I'm in the middle of a work and don't know what to expect...
I must add that recently I had some strange behaviours, little freezes, crashes...things not specifically related...should I change my ram? The problem is that it's still a 133 sdram, although very good (Mushkin 2-2-2), on a P III-s system, that apart this problem performs better than a P IV 2,66 machine I have too...

Can you take the time to do a full RAM check from the BIOS, during bootup?

I'll have a look at the bios features...it's a tusl2c mobo, in XP all 512Mb are recognized, but I go for a look in the bios...not sure what to check under an eventual appearent normality...

everythimg looks normal....

It seems "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NO_PAGED_AREA" is generated by the CPU. Could be because of a null pointer exception in a low-level driver, etc. However if you have a screensaver maybe it's caused by the video driver? Or the video card memory?

Was there any other info in the error message, e.g. a specific driver name?

What OS + service pack are you using?

I found that P2 (not main card) was sharing IRQ with the Matrox g550, I've put now all 3 cw cards on IRQ 5, and see what happens....

I was trying to work a bit an I suddenly had a reboot! no scan disc, nothing, just a reboot....I think something wrong is going on with the hardware...I have the habit of having several system disks on swap trays, and this one was a bit older, and I just had reformatted it and put a ghost image I always start from...as I like to do for every new job.
I have other System disks...I'll try.

Otherwise new MOBO and Processor...I hate that right now, before the 64bit scene is clear....

I've been working flawless for 2 years on this system...

I rebooted the same system to check some files and copy them to another disk's partition, and when I shut off XP I got another blue screen with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error.

It's getting worst and worst, also with another system disk, I can't even shut system down immediatly after booting (I don't have start .pro so Scope is not loaded), as I click on Start key I have blue screen!

I don't have too much time for investigations, tomorrow I think I'm gonna buy a new MOBO and processor.

Before you replace the mobo, it might be worth pulling all your PCI cards.

Damn! I only have CW cards there....and the Matrox!

I have also o 98se System disk, and it crashed (BSOD)immediatly upon opening the desktop. I rebooted it in "Safe Mode" (?) (we call it in italian "Modalltà provvisoria" it's the essential dos compatibile drivers mode, and it didn't crashed. I will first try to substitute the Matrox with another card....

I noticed that win98se in that limited mode only recognized 288 megs of ram of 512...maybe it's its limit? or could be faulty ram?

It's highly possible it could be the RAM at fault.. can you try it with just one of the sticks at a time (assuming you have 2x256MB in there) - you obviously might not be able to do much in Scope or much else for that matter with just 256MB but you should at least be able to figure out if the RAM is at fault (it's unlikely that both of 2 sticks will have failed).

This might sound odd, but did you have any of the .pdf manual files open at the time, perchance? (Or any .pdf file open?)

I found the culprit was the Matrox 550.
I had an old spare NVidia G256, a 32Mb card and I substituted it, and all went ok! It also found the drivers in XP after a reboot and I see my machine fast and snappy .

An error I must have done is that I've put the Sync plate on slot1, and the g550 doesn't have fan, so it must have suffered from overheating...the fact is that even the blue progressive line when copying files from a folder to another one crashed the machine, on several systems...

I'm happy is not a CW card the culprit...
