really short simple question. I am in the middle of setting up my new PC with two scope cards (both 14 dsp). I remember hearing that I only need one s/tdm cable to connect the two cards. Is that what people are doing? Is there an advantage to using two or more (since there are three places to put them on the card)?

one's enough. if you have no more stdm connection notices(unlikely), you can get another. i have heard that one is actually more stable.
did you get your power supply? i think that there are plenty now......

I've been using 2 cables for a while, out of necessity. (Big project.) No stability issues yet, but GaryB's right -- CW support says "the fewer S/TDMs, the more stable your system will be."
Incidentally DSP-intensive devices are not the issue for the bus. When you have lots of smaller devices connected together, then you might start needing more S/TDM bandwidth.

I m going to purchase a scope srb board to add to my existing setup (pulsar). is there anything I should know? do i need to get 2 stdm cables just to be sure? is there any problem with big modular setups?

you only need 1 cable.
your SRB will come with 1 cable.

Most dealers will throw in an extra S/TDM cable for free, so it can't hurt to have a backup. Still you do have to have a *lot* of connections to max out your bus bandwidth. I wouldn't worry about it.
