Hello!

Im thinking on upgrading my CW system currently consisting of 1 Luna2 card. Someone is selling a Pulsar2 card and SRB (4 dsp boost) and Im tempted. I would have 13 dsp chips on 3 cards. My questions are:

*Will I have enough PCI bandwith with my current system? (Ive got a Dell Dimension 8200, tech spec here -> http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/s ... tm#1101572) And also, Ive had some IRQ problems earlier and it feels like they will come back if I plug in 2 extra cards.

*If I buy the Pulsar2 and SRB I will receive a cable to connect the two, but will I need one more cable to connect the Luna2 with the Pulsar and SRB?

Any answer will be appreciated. Thanks!

Is the Powersupply on this box 250Watts only?

Adding more cards will seriousely damage the cards and PC. 250 Watts is not enough power to run multiple PCI cards.
this is not a good machine to begin with

you need at least 400 Watts or 450 Watts for multiple boards

seriousely if you are willing to get 2 more cards then you need to custom build your system with proper parts that will fit the need of your cards as well as minimize problems in the long run. Dell, IBM machines , etc.. are simply made for gaming and internet. there is a tread here where users put their system specs.

i'm on a dimension 8200 (with the original 250w PSU) myself with 1xluna2 and 2xUAD-1.
working like a charm!

i used to have 1 luna2 and 1 pulsar2 and had no power related problems whatsoever.

how many HDD's do you have? how many DVD/CD-devices?

i've got 2 HDDS, 1 CD-ROM and 1 DVD-rw and as i said: the luna2 plus the uad's. AND a network card.

i seem to remember have read somewhere that the stock PSU on the dimension 8200 has way higher capacity than specified.
dunno if it's like that but i've had NO problems.

get the additional cards!

In your case one cable is enough.

it'll work and if you need to, you can get a better supply. you might need to disable some stuff(serial/printer ports..) if you run into irq problems again...

eventually, you will want to build a music computer(when you see what you can do). then come here and we'll talk about what parts.

I use a Luna II, Pulsar 2 and Scope in a Dell 8250 with a 3.06GHz and the stock power supply. Been setup like this for almost two years with no issues. I was told that the Dell PS is conservatively rated...
