Are you all suggesting they might be going the MOTU route?

Thumbs down from the cheap seats. I want my IO going to a dedicated card. One with DSPs on it!

What's the advantage of a FireWire box?

I'm willing to bet that they're hoping for the entire shebang to be firewire (like the new Powercore).

Yes, imagine a creamware box, the size of the A16U, with 15dsp + mem inside including IOs and MIDI, connecting thru firewire to your laptop or PC or Mac

That's it!

I think if you pack all that in a one unit box you will be able to cook your dinner on it!

Otherwise it will need bigger noisier fans.

I settle for two units high and they better buy the quietest fans known to humankind.

I don't know if new developments are on the order of the day at CW, but they're sure selling everything they have in stock. We've seen the plugin actions, Noah EX at 1110€ and now this...

Weither it is to improve their financial situation or cos they got new gear under the hood, I bet on the first. If they make something outboard, USB or Firewire, it'd better load modular too

the new cards are coming- faster sharcs.... they won't be able to link with older cards.
you will have to sell your cards and update to the new one's. im not sure what kind of update offer creamware will have.

It depends on the time scale you have in mind
If they are gathering mony, it has to be for investments, after all and on the long run.
Then there are two ways to invest, new software and stuff (TDM drivers, whatever) or new hardware (or both).
If CWA will support the new mac G5 (they promised thatfor sure), new hardware (the box) is requirered.
The new Luna 24/96 offer is possibly the first sign to that direction, it looks like the start of 'plan B'
So I'm hopefull, though I expect it will take a lot time
Yet still working fine on my G4 733 KHz
