Hiya,
I'm thinking of rearranging my studio a bit.
If I get me an RME HDSP 9632 and reconfigure SFP only to be used for XTC ? I'll connect them via ADAT light pipe and use the stereo out of the RME card. Will the XTC config still have the well known latency, which gets worse when adding more FX / synths ? Or is it neglible since there's no D/A conversion involved ?
I'll make my final decission on what your replies will be.
regards and thanks in advance,
Ronald

XTC/SFP software doesn't care where your audio ends up, but if you want to transport it to native programs there will be latency as ever.

Thanks Atomic,
Seems the latency remains which isn't what I hoped for ;-(
Maybe then I'll have to think about putting my CW cards back into my previous daw, use this as a "synth farm" and have the RME card in my current machine for sequencing, etc.

Ronald

that'll work, but you'll have the same latency(from the rme) as leaving the cwa card in the same computer and using it in sfp mode connected to the rme via light pipe.
certainly two computers is more powerful than one, but other than that, what could possibly be gained from getting the rme?

Today I rebuild my machine (for specs see my signature) since my PowerSampler kept playing up. So far so good, but I thought to trade in/sell the PS and maybe a luna box too and get me a trouble free (?) RME. I was sooooooh fed up with the PS problems. see my thread here:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... &forum=1&5 , I had the most stabe system ever when the CW cards were in my 1.4Ghz Pentium III machine. But I'll give it another chance once more, since nothing beats SFP.
