I didnt really know where to post this so I will put it here. Hi there everybody, I just wondered if anyone could answer this question about syncing, I have an mpc4000 that has a world clock out/in; Is it possible should I purchase an A16 (to compliment my pulsar 2 and powersampler) ultra very soon that I would be able to sync my mpc to cubase sx?. What I'm trying to achieve is that when pressing play in cubase it starts and stops the mpc automatically at any given point within a song.

I have been reading about sync a little and the term sample accurate keeps coming up. The reason I'm looking for this solution is that I wish to be able to bring the audio into the a16 from the mpc (with individual outs). I appreciate that this is possible but is it possible that when I press start on cubase the mpc starts exactly at the same time so basically if I have a drum beat 8 bars long I can just record exactly those eight bars and then edit and loop these. I guess this is a mean feet but I wish to be able to record my mpc loops exactly without having to remove a trail in sample in order to get the beginning of the loop exactly. Sorry if I have not explained myself very well but I'm sure somebody out there has some experience with syncing and sample accurate recording.

If I would have to buy additional hardware then so be it I would just like an idea of how the pros punch in and out to record exact passes of audio.

Cheers

C.

that's how it works, no problems. i do this all the time. some sounds might not loop well or might not loop on the first beat well(such as a bass line or string part with a long sustain), but you can deal with that as needed(play the mpc part as long as you need it or loop it from the middle of the bar to the middle of the bar). at least it'll be in place timing-wise.

Cheers Gary does this mean you have an mpc? By the sounds of it sample accurate recording is possible great stuff.

My next problem is another fundemental one I have a system that uses an asrock P4VT8+ board

http://www.asrockamerica.com/Products/P4vt8p.htm

512mb ram SATA drive etc etc. From having a play with the drivers in scope it appears that should I use the windows driver in wavelab and stick a couple of plugins the blooming system just throws a wobbly and locks up where as If I select the ASIO driver in pref. then the system runs like a charm. I just wondered if anyone else has this trouble with drivers.

Also when I'm running acid and I look in the setup and it says that I'm running ASIO version 1 does anyone know of where I would obtain version 2. Again sorry to be so vague but coming from an MPC into the creamware/cubase arena I'm used to the box working of the bat. These irq's and ASIO's are a little confusing.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Ade

ummm
no, i don't have an mpc, a freind/client of mine uses one.

also, midi clock and mtc are not sample accurate, but they are accurate enough to get good loops.

sorry for the confusion......
