Hi guys!

I'm on the look for expanding my Luna card with only 1 Stereo I/O, since i need atleast 10 inputs in my system.

Problem is - They no longer make the Luna 2496 BOX, and the A16 Ultra is WAY too much expensive for me..

Can i get another Audio card and install it to use its' inputs ? will this setup work in the same computer with the luna?

Anyone ever tried something like this? what would be the best solution for me?

Thanks

Hoi lysergide,

They no longer produce the Luna2496, but probably some shops still might have some stock. Or maybe one of them pops up on Ebay or in the selling forum here...

Does the Luna have ADAT? Maybe an old ADAT with broken recorder can serve as AD/DA?

To mix Luna with another audio card is less ideal, might give some configuration problems.

Hope you find a fix,

at0m.

actually i'm not searching for a solution with ADAT since all my gear has analog i/o (Sampler and a synth).

I can get a second card like the ECHO LAYLA24 with 8 i/o's. hook all my gear to it, and record under VST like that. whenever i need to use the Creamware hardware for FX/MODULAR synth i switch the ASIO driver to SCOPE again..

anyone ever worked like this before?
Could this work without causing problems (IRQ and such..)

why not get another cwa card and a behringer ad8000(about $200 retail) and have something more useful for your money in the long run?(and better sounding than a crappy layla card to boot)

Yeah, try to get an old Pulsar1, then you have so much I/Os as you want. Should be not expensive.
Be sure to get a STDM-connection, too.
One or two Fostex VC-8 would give 8 or 16 new I/Os.

What use do i get from having another cwa card such as a pulsar?

I need ANALOG INPUTS. that's it. how many more inputs do i get from the pulsar? 1 stereo in as i remember, no?

and it is quite expensive to get a new pulsar2.

Yes, and you connect them together with stdm cable(s)

Layla was good some ... 5 years ago. Forget it as the ASIO drivers are not too good (I used to have Gina). I mean the original Layla/Gina 20. I don't know much about the 24 but they are not too new, as well. One thing is for sure - the converters work great in the card.

BUT having 2 different cards can be difficult to organize in your sequencer. Cubase is not capable of addressing more than one ASIO card. Logic - AFAIK this sequencer is capable as well as Samplitude (at least a very old version from 1997 did).

You'd better buy a mixer.

Yes! You can even put max 3 CWA cards in your system! And it doesn't matter which cards. SO you can have a Luna + Pulsar + Scope (ie Scope Home, Scope Project and Scope Pro) - the only thing to remember is to have an STDM cable and a good ventiled PC.

you can still buy luna boxes in the USA from North American dealers. Luna box is still a cheaper yet best option for your luna if you can't afford the A16.

Either a second hand 2496 (or new one if someone has one in stock) or check the M-Audio Delta 1010 LT out (are selling now for a really low price). Great ASIO2 drivers and probably will suit your needs. I run a M-Audio FW Audiophile as maincard nowadays, and using the Luna purely for the minimax, works great together!
