ableton live 4
I've always loved 'playing around' in the 'live' mixer of the Live demo, and could always see using it for some of the sampling/looping duties. Its lack of midi has kept me from investing in it as I don't do live gigs and already own enough looping tools to get by.
I'm looking forward to the v4 demo download at the end of July

I've been playing with the v3 demo a lot (as I have before). While it is very good at constructing "bits", I have a lot of trouble making little transitions between those "bits". In other words, constructing an entire song seems a lot more difficult to me than, for example, Acid...
I had arranged a very good price on this, but now I'm getting skeptical and am holding back.
Ableton certainly has a huge initial "wow factor", but I think I'll wait and see what Acid 5 has to offer.

been testing live4 for a few days now. it certainly rocks... it's great to have the same features for midi clips than we had for audio.
there's still some things i haven't found or is not present, that would make it the one stop solution for me (like recording midi automation. you can do it of course, but could be easier), and still a few bugs. but it definitely feels great!
richard, you know you can drag all your little clips in session view to arrangement (to do this, drag your clip to the upper right corner, to the arrangement button (three horizontal lines)) and drop the clips anywhere you want (track/time), edit them there without altering the original clip in session...
i'm sure i still haven't touched 10% of its possibilities.
are you still flexorless???
the master of ramps was here yesterday... one large triangle wave playing in ableton live going via a seperate channel to modulars in sfp... all perfectly in sync. route the resulting audio back to ableton and there you have your beloved, perfectly cut, 'exported' wavs. named and everything...

beta 4.0b9 is available for everyone. even to people not owning live.
if you've never played with ableton before, you might be overwhelmed/disappointed.
for starters, record some audio, open a 'simpler' in a midi channel, select (a part from) the recorded audio and throw it in simpler. start playing. i'm impressed with 'impulse' as well.
both very simple devices, but cool things can be done.
play on.

The more i see it the more i think i need this seq
Looks very very promising with the included midi !
[edit]
Been playing with al4 this morning, and man, that's what i want. They nailed down the exact workflow i was dreaming about
Midi is what was missing.
They also fixed the master out assignation, where before you could only use the first output as master, good...
