Hi,
I have been using a PulsarII/Powersampler pair for some years as my main I/O and for synths in XTC mode via Nuendo. Having just bought a Firewire I/O device (Edirol FA101) I'd like to run the main Nuendo I/O via the FA101 but still use the PulsarII/PowerSampler for XTC synths.
However, if I attempt to load an XTC plugin while using the FA101 ASIO I get the dreaded 'PowerSampler cannot be used in XTC accelerator mode' message. Plugin will the load but the DSP shows 0/0 and nothing works.
Any way to use a pair of CW cards with I/Os just for their XTC mode? I cant fidn any way excpt by loading the ASIO I/O drivers for them.
cheers
FT

Hi
I believe there is a way of disabling I/O for XTC mode. I remember when I installed SFP4 there was a 'XTC Enable' setup application where you can disable I/O.
Have you up-graded to SFP4? This maybe the way to do it.

Thanks for the reply. Theres an app 'IOEnabler' which looks like it does whats needed. However, if I set 'my card has no I/O' (and reboot) Nuendo still cant load XTC plugins. The same 'cannot be used in XTC' dialog

Hi FlameTop
Did you try completely un-installing SFP then re-installing? Maybe worth a try?? There was a post recently were someone had the opposite problem to you.... I just looked for it but couldn't find it.

there is a plug to replace the card i/o to make it an xtc card. ask cwa.
i can't imagine a reason that the firewire interface would be superior. sometimes, it think that people use a certain product only because everyone sez to do it that way. when a lot of people do something the same way, often it's because over the years, it's been discovered what works best. sometimes, it's just because of hypnotism.
i also don't see the point of xtc mode for day to day working. yes, it's tidy(sort of) with just one app, but it's also unnatural(doesn't reflect real-world relationship with gear) as it locks one down to the host application.
i guess for a very limited style of production(the same music made over and over) things like routing freedom are not too very important.
really, i'm just ranting and i don't mean any direct critisism of what works for any specific circumstance and there's no value judgement made, i see things this way for myself and don't understand why someone would want to eliminate functionality from one's system so completely. i can see limiting functionality as an exercise in efficiency or a means to an end for a paricular task, and i can see limiting functionality in return for higher quality performance, but i don't see higher performance from the nuendo i/o.
thanks! as i said, just ranting and i hope you get your system working in a way that pleases you and helps you to be productive!

Just about to try a full re-install of SFP 4. If that does not work I'll probably leave it and learn to do without XTC mode. Its just I'm lazy and tend not to run up a full SFP session ,prefering to just grab an XTC mode synth when the fancy takes me.

.. Ah well, re-install made no defference. No matter what combinations of the IOEnabler I use it still wont load XTC mode plugins.
Guies i'll just have to get used to SFP native again.
Cheers for the help folks.
