I have a big problem with Cubase SX and the rewire compatible applications like Reason.
If I don't use rewire tracks cubase works perfectly with Asio drivers.
When I playback a song with normal cubase audio tracks + rewire tracks linked to Reason (or fruity loops) this is the problem:
The normal audio tracks play perfectly but the rewire tracks are full of clips, crackles, pops ecc ecc...
Why only the rewire tracks don't play correctly?
My PC:
P4 3.06Mhz
ASUS P4P800
1GB DDR400
ATI Radeon 9600
2HD Maxtor 80GB
Windows XP Pro
anyone can help me?
thanks in advance

Hi
Does Reason work OK on it's own? Have you tried increasing your latency to see if that helps? Are you using the ASIO2 drivers? Have you XP 'tweaked'?

Hi
I think that Reason uses rewire2 which probably needs ASIO2?

Kenf, Rewire is a protocol on it's own, it doesn't know which audio drivers the host uses.
DJTrEVo, try reinstalling the client with the latest Reason version. I suspect things got messed up when installing both Fruity and Reason's Rewire, maybe the latest you installed had an older version.
This has been ages, but I remember setting up Rebirth (Rewire1) and Reason (Rewire2) was a bit tricky. Rewire would go foobar and I had to reinstall one of them again to fix it.

Hi Tom
I take your point about Rewire2 and ASIO2.... different ptotocol. Its just I have found Reason and SX2 rock solid using ASIO2 32. I started using the ASIO drivers and the performance was a little 'flakey' Changed to ASIO2 32 and it's been rock solid.

Thanks 4 your answers
With ASIO 2 the problem persist.
I'll try to Reinstall the client applications...

Finally I have resolved the problem!
It has been enough to disable an option in cubase...
Devices -> Device Options -> VST Multitrack -> Expert -> disable Multi Processing
(the menu names could be different because I use an Italian version of Cubase)
Now all works good!

Hi DJTrEVo
That is a known problem for most systems.
Glad all is now working for you!
