I have a P4 2.4Ghz (northwood), mounted on a ASUS p4b533 with 1GB RAM on winXP Home, but i feel that my computer is very slow, since i cannot achieve the performance, with sonar 2 and various Dxi, that others claim to have.
i have optimised all that is required for a DAW PC, following a number of web documents.
my only doubts are on what services could i disable, and if it is better the "standard PC" or the "ACPI uniprocessor" system installation. now i have standar PC, but soon i'll thry the other option.
i have three CW board (luna, pulsar1, pulsar SRB) and a soundblaster and 7 ms of latency (no clicks with low CPU load)
the memory i have installed is
kinston value ram (2x512) 266MHz PC2100 Dimm CL2 non-ECC

is there a benchmark utility i can use for testing my performance? of course i'd like to know also YOUR test with mentioned benchmark utility!

Hi, what I' m sure it's about the standard PC... PC standard is the raccomanded setting for the audio station. Did you have disable all the background programs?... Intendo dire che so che la modalità standard è quella consigliata, prova a disattivare tutto quello che parte all' avvio...

My system is very similar to yours and first thing I want to tell you is that I've got better performance with acpi than when I tried standard. (with XPpro, and believe me, Sand)

Maybe I has never requisited too much my system but I find it really well.
Everytime I've been into troubles they were always related for error or knowledgeless of mine but with help from posts over Z, I've always found solutions.

BO, have you installed Intel acceleration?
It improves performance a lot and some issues in bios also can make some difference.

My last "masterverb test" got me astounded, I could load and connect till 18 masterverbs
when I reached my 15 dsp limit but not pci bandwith.

(my mouse crashed but I probably draged them too hard for it...)

Hehehe..I wonder why all the men here with sever problems are still addicted to asus. Learn friom your experiences.
