Hi

I have done a fresh post as i think it is a different question!

I did a clean install with XP and everything is working fine. However, the C drive still has all my old programmes onit and i was expecting the clean install to delete all of them? do i need to fdisk and if so could anyone let me know the procedure of fdisking and reinstalling xp as i don't have a start up disk?

thank you again

Liam

You don't need to run FDisk, just tell XP to do a format before it installs.

worry not, you'll get used to it! It can be tricky but if you follow the procedure with attention you'll get it right!

Backuping essential data is important when you format disks... keeps you more relaxed...

got an old win98 stratup disk? it's got fdisk on it.how about a drive utilities program from a company like maxtor?(free from their website)

can't you just delete what you don't want?i'd run a registry cleaner afterwards...(i like easycleaner by toni arts.beware that some like m$'s regclean will remove asio entries...)

I dunno what XP you have, but every XP i've ever used has a screen to format the drive.. it happens after the first section where it loads drivers and asks u if u want to install a 3rd party scsi/raid driver. It is clearly laid out.. I know Microsoft installer text is not the most riveting read in the world, but just make sure u read every screen.

Are you booting from the CD? if so it should give you all the options
