Sorry must have quit earlier.

I was trying to figure out a new pc P4 3.2 Gig with mobo P4C800-E and a new 10K RPM drive.

I got it all set up but still finding a problem with Acid and Vegas.

If I try to select from preferences the CD (LG 52/32/52) my system reboots itself.I spent 2 days trying to figure this one out.

This is not a problem in my other system Athlon 1.8gig

Any one has a idea? Am I missing something?

cheers

Hi All, after a few formats and reinstallation of winXP. I found out that my software are conflicting with the onboard promise controller, (bare in mind my CW cards are not even installed yet)

I was installing the sequencers first so XTC can work after word.

so I took it step by step.
I installed XP/SP1 first and before I updated any drivers I installed Vegas and acid and Voila they worked fine,
then I updated the video card then the network card etc,,, and finally
I installed the promise controller and all hell broke loose.

then I accessed the bios and disable the controller and the system was functioning just fine,

now I am about to install my CW cards .
just goes to show you, I never suspected the CW cards and knew it was something with windows update or the mainboard and after 3 clean formats I found out it was the promise controller.

cheers

In most cases, it is preferable to install ALL drivers first, and then starging with the rest: programs, samples, etc.
