I was recently disappointed to find that the current Creamware SFP wave drivers DO NOT support multichannel Players (such as Windows Media Player, WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc) with 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 surround formats.
(My recent attempt to test this capability failed with SFP 3.1c drivers, and my exploration of this forum found several other frustrated users and NO solutions -except to hardwire an external hardware decoder, which would the take one out of the digital domain)
I hope those who are influential with Creamware will hear my call to support this capability ASAP in the SFP Wave Drivers.
Many music and post-production developers have a basic need to monitor or record pre-recorded surround formats from DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, and also WMA9 multichannel sources (via Windows Media Player) or AC3 files.
Also, many SFP users are also avid audio/videophiles that simply would like to be able to experience DVDs or listen to DVD-Audio disks on their Creamware system (via standard software players like WinDVD or PowerDVD) during off-development hours.
It is a real inconvenience to have to hardwire external DVD players with decoders to provide this capability (especially given the flexibility and mission of SFP to reduce external hardware needs).
Most major pro-soundcard manufacturers provide this multichannel wave driver support (including RME, Motu, Ego-Sys, ProTools) so why doesn’t Creamware??
Please hear this clarion call (and if there somehow is a way to configure SFP to do this today, please illuminate me!)
Thanks, J.T Brown
