I guess it's an amp-emulator much like Line6 POD stuff, but I cant figure out what this is..
You can sort of see tha brand in red on the device, but I can't read it from that angle.

Does anyone recognize it?

Gary is right. That is a Johnson J-Station amp simulator.

The J-Station is about half the price of a Line 6 Pod unit. One of the nice features of this unit was that it included some bass amp simulators.

Not sure what happened to Johnson. They used to be prominently displayed in Musicians Friend but have since dropped out of sight. Good sounding amps. I saw Kansas a couple of years ago and their guitarist was using a Johnson amp. Similar to the Line 6 amps in a way - amp modeling with a built-in tube to warm things up. Sounded great from what I remember.

Maybe you can find one on Ebay.
