Is there anyone who does this without any problems?

Yes
1: Create a new project without the stadard wave drivers.
2: Add the "Digital Wave Source" and connect it to "Dig" on the sp-dif dest.
3: Startup PowerDVD version 4, build 2417 or newer, and enjoy...

I have PowerDVD 5.0, but I can't get good Dolby Digital surround.

can you use SFP as a 5.1 decoder? or a 6 channel interface to powerDVD?

Im guessing your example requires an external 5.1 decoder?

no encode/decode features in sfp.

With SFP 4.0 I still have problems with getting proper 5.1 surround sound. The sound begins, but stops after a few seconds, then begins again and stops again. This keeps going on all the time. I'd of course like to get continuous sound, so how can I solve the problem?

use the onboard soundchip of your mainboard connect the digital outs and ins. VoilĂ .

But I want to use the Creamware card for this, not the onboard soundchip.

Yes, me too, I'd really like to send surround through the routing-system of scope. Should be possible to decode with software if not scope itself.

What if something like this: http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/ could decode (split) to separate surround channels and send to different wave sources in scope? Maybe it is possible, I have tried but no luck yet. Are there other software decoders out there that might do the job?

I've connected the Coaxial Out to the Coaxial In of my Dolby receiver.

Could the problem be that PowerDVD decodes the Dolby Digital 5.1 signal and the Dolby receiver too, so that they're conflicting?

uhhh,is that a digital signal you're sending thru your card to digital sp/dif? you need to configure for optical sp/dif out in the samplerate window and you need to use a digital module to optical sp/dif module in scope.

or you can use individual wave source modules for power dvd and then out individual outs via adat connectors to ad/da converters to separate amps and speakers.

if you're trying to get optical sp/dif from your dvd player INTO your cwa card,i don't think your player even has optical encoded outputs.

I'm just trying to play a DVD on my computer via PowerDVD 5.0 and hear Dolby Digital sound instead of Stereo PCM.

I have a Dolby Receiver (Sony STR-DB780) with 5.1 speakers. I've tried to connect the coaxial as well as the optical but both had the same problems.

Could it be that my card is defect?

If optical out works otherwise, it seems highly unprobable. It must be a software issue.

And I'd really like to know which software issue that is and how to solve it.
Is there actually anyone else on this forum who has PowerDVD 5.0 and plays dolby digital without problems?

Did you try it with onboard sound? Just to know how does it work there, if there are issues with the dvd player itself...I don't have surround receiver...could it be a setting on it?
