Thank you for nothing? Or thank you for letting me pretend that I have 4.5?

did you really think you got something for free that would normally cost money to anyone else? oh well, Creamware is no longer in existance and S/C is new management, so it doesn't make much difference anyway. the point is, if you PAY for 4.5 or bought a new card that came with 4.5, 5.0 is free. if you don't or didn't pay for 4.5, you have to pay for 5.0. that's all there is, there ain't no more.
i dunno what all this has to do with the new pluggiator demo, but it'd be nice if we could keep the debate about the 5.0 update in 1 or 2 threads that were about it. this is a problem that pz hasn't really had in the past. let's not make it the new way of doing things(going way ot on many, many threads unnecessarily).

Gary,
You want me to stay on the topic yet you just asked me a question which is off the topic. Don't ask me a question and then expect me not to answer it.
I never said that it should be free. Why would I expect it to be free?
I expect current audio drivers to be free and bugs to be fixed for free. Fixing bugs is the duty of any company when the product is faulty and yes it is the way that most companies act. If they can't afford to fix bugs, they should not be in business.
SC should be forced to buy back duplicate modules or give credits towards modules we don't have. Duplicate modules are totally useless. If you already own modules in a SFP or a bundle, it lowers the value to the customer. Why should someone have to pay for modules they already own? None of this would matter if it was inexpensive but it is quite expensive but then someone will say it's not because of all you get but a lot of it you already bought before.

braincell,
the product isn`t faulty at all.
the old drivers worked fine.
and they did it over ~ roughly 6 years. So you cannot expect product support for 100 of years.
A normal product lifetime is 2 maybe 3 or 4 years. Scope has lived from windows 98 times..... so you cannot expect free drivers for windows 2025 also.
and finally it has been said many times: the driver is free but not for a product that is 6 or 7 years old like scope 3.1 or 4.0
If you do an upgrade for 200 bucks you get the driver, one of the plug-in pack S&S or M&M and finally a bunch of new fx from scope 5.0 ( a new reverb, 2 new comps and a new channel eq) + some additional features and maybe some bugfixes.
There is nothing bad about that deal.
And if you really feel that this is too much asked. Then search for a cheap luna or something like that for 100 bucks that comes with scope 4.5. So you get some additional I/Os and another 3 dsps for free.

if you still think its a bad deal: get this one

They have to fix all bugs from products currently sold. It doesn't matter how old the product is if it is still being sold. Pretty much everything they ever made is still for sale so these bugs are all current.

thats wrong, if you buy a new car, you get 3 years warranty or something like that, in that period things will get fixed for free.
From then on you have to pay,
even if the lineup is still available to buy new.
Witn scope its not the hardware, its the software you buy.
Your last purchase is an old software pack. So if you wanna keep it up to date you simply have to pay.
the card is just the platform to run the software.
if creamware would only sell hardware and deliver product support over decades for free, they would have gone insolvent even much earlier.

Someone else is going to buy the car I bought last year today and they will suffer from the bug and there will be no answer from the company because they don't care.
Dude, the Mod III is still for sale. It doesn't matter when I bought it. Today someone will buy it, work with it for a couple of hours, open up his project the next day, and all his work will be deleted. You can't understand that? They have to fix it for the new guy don't they? You don't understand this?
Sonic Core can't say it's Creamware's fault because Sonic Core is selling it.

mmh,
the best idea would be if you simply write a pm to sc or ralf.
Simply because if you whine inside this forum, nothng will change.
maybe one of the few employees at SC will sit down and program you an extra vista driver for scope 4.0 and 3.1 and all the other old versions. That will only need 1/2 year.
what i want to say is that its economically not possible to handle an update for each scope version.

Perhaps because the programmers would rather work on the new projects. This is why the plugiator is great. No more SFP needed. You buy the plugiator and you are not at the mercy of Sonic Core. It will work with any OS and any sequencer.

They should open up the driver source code, I'm sure some one else can fix it.

Really, they would sell more hardware too.
I was just trying to imagine what they were thinking when they made the Mod III.
Almost done!
Great!
Now let me save and load a project
Doh!
Hey the shell is bad
Shhhh don't tell anyone, maybe they won't notice
Good idea
Alright we better get to work on the ASB synths now
Yeah you are right

none of this relates to SonicCore.
the ASB box builder is making the Pluggiator(which is likely a very nice device).
as it has been pointed out numerous times in the past, you can't just have a driver for these new OSs. it involves a rewrite of the program that lods the dsps as well. many companies stop supporting old products on new OSs all together. i have a couple of pinnacle cards that demonstrate this. you have no further rights to code. the idea that S/C should buy back duplicate devices is laughable.
actually, before Noah, in the days that Holger and Jurgen and the rest of the SonicCore team worked for Creamware and weren't yet fired by the Insolvency Court(which was the result of the Noah), Creamware was VERY responsive to the users and regularly fixed bugs and made new devices(though even then, they were a closed lipped bunch). the result was a system that still works nearly perfectly. there ARE a few flaws, but they are fully known and easily workable. no complex software is 100% bug free, but Scope STILL has NO competition and STILL works great even though the developement has languished the last 2 years or so.. and actually, for myself and my customers, Scope is just about the most rock-solid hardware/app that can be run in a computer for audio. now that S/C owns Scope, these same guys that worked hard to make this platform the thing that makes myself and many others more productive, are again working hard. what's not to like?
enough bitching. is everything ok at home? the amount of handwringing over all this is not equal to the size of any actual issue. obviously, there must be some greater emotional pain than the fact that Scope developement is back in full force! no one works for free. well, to be honest, i work for free, but only to a point. everyone has bills to pay and deserves to make a good living from their work, this includes you, me, and the guys(and gals) at S/C.
again, i say enough! why is there always one guy who WANTS to be poison? braincell, i certainly don't hate you or have any ill wishes, but this is nothing but trolling. please let's not fight! we can argue off topic all you want, but the real reason this message board is here is because Scope IS great! if you won't drink the koolaid, that's your biz, but don't piss in mine, i'm planning on drinking it and i'll have a difficult time refraining from violence if i taste urine.

You just lowered the PlanetZ civility standards to hooligan levels. Congratulations! I'm sure your sales will soar now.

whatever. i don't come here to sell. i come here to help and to participate, which is more than civil. if i sell something, nice. if i don't, just as nice.
if someone pees in your koolaid you won't act irrationally?

see? i'm laughing. i don't care to be tolerant of trolling, but there's no ill will AT ALL from me other than towards the trolling specifically.....but you know that clown-o. find something else to dislike me for.

The pluggiator is what the ASB should have been. I applaud it. It is a great device at a wonderful price. I have my fingers crossed for them. It's not a good name nor is "Use Audio" but that is trivial. Perhaps they should get an English language consultant.

Sigh, it's disheartening to read thru a topic like this.
Planetz has traditionally been a model community of self-moderating individuals.
I can see a number of users trying their best to do so here, while a number of others getting increasingly openly hostile. Not much fun.
What can I say?
Guys, you know who you are, please take a break from posting for awhile. Get some perspective. Please take the high road.
This is what I have to say to my 5 year old daughter many times every day--- please treat others the way you want them treat you. Simplest idea in the world, but whether you're 5 years old, or 50, it is still easily forgotten. SERIOUSLY, think about it before posting!

It's more like someone deliberately digging a hole that's deep enough for them two sit at the bottom with a smile shouting 'I'm a villian. Hit me with stones or large boulders please. I need punishment. Climb down & spank me because I'm being a bad boy... see.'
Definitely childish. I guess we all have our moments.
