Waldorf Attack?? ....That said (even taking into consideration the Arturia 'effort' ) I agree that the hardware Solaris will represent the best yet to come out of softsynths. (wasn't it hardware all along?

Ladies And Gentlemen,..........................................................................Sharc.
Man Or Myth. I still bless you for the preset abilities for C4T. GaryB was shocked when I played it for him 2 weeks back.

John did a very good job with QWave which represent a huge effort .... with a low sale figure
For me THIS is a very bad news as John is doing a very good job for us ... and is a very nice man!
We have been really lucky to have him on board, but how can he be confident for delivering a new synth if he is not paid in return!
Cheers
Michel

because it will adress much more potential customers outside this board
the planetZ market somewhat looks like 150 quick buyers, aquiring anything that shows up within a couple of weeks and another 500 that may jump the train within one or two years - the remaining 3000 are just watching... bundle buying, eBaying... I dunnowhat...

More like waiting for MCCY, Shroomz, Sharc, and DJ Micron to give them something for free. In a way you can't blame them. These guys have really made many things I would have paid for anyway. The C4T is one of the sweetest sounding synths I own, and it was free, and continues to be upgraded. The time for Sonicore to throw away that silly licensing agreement is here, or at this pace why buy from developers when we can just watch and wait ? They probably figured guys like them would not break any records with SDK. I beg to differ !!!
I will always buy ANY device John Bowen makes period. No need for a demo. Why ? Because of the quality of sound, and customer care as well. When I receive emails from him, I feel as if the new Buchla, Moog, or Theramin is speaking to me. Where else does a developer come to a forum and hang out to see what we want ? I wish him the most success w/ his newest child. I always thought that he was selling himself short by creating the worlds most awesome synthesizers and selling them for peanuts. The price of the new Solaris is actually his time to get some money back for decades of dedication and creation. It will be the Apex / Lexicon of synthesis. I would pay 5 large for it, as it will propel forward into the future of synthesis.
I have painstakingly been tweaking patches for 2 years, and will be rewarded by having these incredible sounds load instantly, and w/ 16 voices to boot !! Not to mention that the guys he has making patches are extremely diverse and talented, especially that sick man called decimator, his patches are so,....well, sick *^$#%$*
I suppose the free SDK devices only force developers to release even more incredible stuff. Bring back Celmo, Wolf, and Warp69 !! There are so many to choose from. I just had a great idea for a device,....I'm calling Medhi .....see ya' guys later.

I'm sorry to disagree Jimmy - not at all
the CAT has been downloaded less than 400times, the 8 Channel Tube board leads with 630 - and while the pic of the Moveq+ has been viewed 4000 times, just 55 copies were downloaded.
even if the stuff is for free, obviously none of it exceeds my imaginary number of 650 potential 'customers'.
That said about the theory that low prices would increase sales figures
cheers, Tom

Tom,
MCCY just updated MOVEQ+ that's why it's only 55 downloads

I was watching the figures for MOVEQ occasionally & I'm sure it was downloaded at least 1200 -1500 times when you count the updates. One version of it alone was downloaded over 900 times if I'm not mistaken.

yes, I noticed the edit - and found it pretty strange too, considering how long this has been around...
the version numbers 1.2 and 2.1 irritated me, I overlooked that they don't apply to the same product, oops.
nevertheless (or rather unfortunately) it doesn't change much the fundamental facts, even extending the number to 1000 'potential' users is less than humble for a rather sophisticated freebie.
Adern is approaching the 1-k-mark in it's count of registered forum members - how long did that take ?
you know that my point isn't to talk any of the products down - but doesn't it ring something within you if you reach an almost identical number of users by either donation OR by sales ?
cheers, Tom

Tom, I actually think that Jimmy V has a point to an extent, although I definately don't think people are 'waiting around' for new devices (free or otherwise). Maybe we shouldn't hijack John's Q-wave thread with this discussion though. It's not really the right place.

I agree to not extend this discussion ad infinitum, but my answer to MD69's question
...We have been really lucky to have him on board, but how can he be confident for delivering a new synth if he is not paid in return! ... is spot on the topic
it is my impression that there's a kind of false self-suggestion on this board that's beyond reason and doesn't help anybody at all.
Either people wake up and realize what gems they are ignoring (the QWave being one of them) or the 'music' will play elsewhere - sooner or later.
sorry, it's not my business anyway - but sometimes it just drives me nuts... (I will shut up now)
cheers, Tom

I agree with everyone, and will also shut up.
I just have to say to all of the SDK guys I mentioned, thanks alot, and your devices ARE being used and appreciated. I only wish that after so many free, and excellent devices that your " badge " has been earned, and you could start selling them to encourage further excellence.
Afterall, we are not communists..............Don Barzini,....The Godfather I.
I will now be silent, ....well at least for a couple of hours.
Thanks You My Brothas',

Astro ... you just got my point and believe me .... it is even worse than you think
I am really thankfull to shoomz, McCyrano, sharc and to all SDK developpers for their supports and dedications, but a platform cannot live without pro developers .
We will only get what we (planetz) are ready to pay ... I don't think I am highjacking John's thread! I think I am just on the point!
I wonder what we can do to have a better cooperation with or pro devs ? .... but it's time to act!
cheers

yes, I know - but since it's not related to this particular device we might add to the 'Future of Scope Hardware' under Offtopics, as hardware is impossible to go without software (developement) today, or create a dedicated topic.
I'd just like to point out (while re-reading my answer above) I noticed the sentence ...it is my impression that there's a kind of false self-suggestion on this board that's beyond reason and doesn't help anybody at all. ...
might be misunderstood - I'm not referring to Jimmy or any specific person at all, but to a certain 'general mood' that many postings suggest - at least imho.
