bloody oath, are you serious? are the keys still going to be processed manually by a single guy (ralf)? You got to be kidding me. Geez, what happens if there's a massive rush of 1000 email requests, i'm sure he has more better things to do than process keys. Heaven's sake, it's 2009, shouldnt there be an automated system on the website???!!?....
Sorry to say that's quite disfunctional...

as of now we don't know exactly if they were able to put manpower to a (at least half-automated) key processing mechanism, so all we can guess is that it's just like that.
I'm convinced no one desires a back/frontend for user and key management more than ralf, but this wasn't the main thing to focus yet.
I don't want to be him this evening...

ralf is acutally writing from the future, so "this evening" means actually "the evening of 25 may 2015".

Didnt the automatic key generator exist on the website a number of years ago?? What ever happened to that? Or did that disappear with Creamware??

yeah, it worked.
what happened was that people hacked the website and the keygen was removed to protect it.
i think(but don't know that) the main problem is that designing and maintaining such a system securely is just not affordable.

Site's homepage is still unreachable.

I don't think there was actually automatic key generating done those days. the only thing to be automated I remember was the packaging of .oxe files to proper auth string, but this could have been fed from a database as well.
ralf confirmed years ago that the MyPage area was taken offline due to intensive intrusion attempts. but then, he didn't do this job too bad, did he?
