I'm diggin scope as a mix platform. But XCite does not realize this unfortunately. Why...

...still with new improvements 32 adat i/o is nowhere near enough for even 2 other pc farms.

I have to wait for more i/o options before I could buy Xcite

I just hope the price doesn't get ridiculous for extra i/o. RME madi has already 64i/o soon to be more on one card.

I wish other people who use it as a mixing "hub" for their digital studio would chime in.

We need a xtdm expansion with at least 72 i/o very soon to follow at a reasonable price. I hope SC dont fall short again.

I hardly ever pipe in, but this one struck a chord. I use my 45 DSP system as a 72-channel mixing hub (9xADAT) with PC1600x command station. It works quite well. I'm "x-cited" about the new hardware, but really want to see I/O expansion options to support 9xADAT (or MADI).

The software update will be free available for you, if...
you bought SCOPE 4.5 until the 31th of december 2007

or you buy SCOPE 4.5 up from the 1st of january 2008 at SONIC CORE and with that, you got your special update code from us for free

or you buy SCOPE 4.5 up from the 1st of january 2008 (including a SCOPE PCI board) at one of our distribution partners

In all other cases, you can obtain the update for 198,- EUR (incl. 19 % UST).

So, don't worry

Say you bought a scope pulsar 2 card of the forums here, and this card included all the plugins that were included with scope 4.5 and therefore there was no reason to buy v4.5.

What would I be missing if I stuck with version 4.0? Other than the Vista support of course.

Are there new synths, mixers and other cool devices planned in version 5.0?

Or would my 200Euros be better spend buying say Solaris version 5.0 instead?

with scope v4.5 you get 5.0 for free.
We dont really know what new features will come in scope 5 if any-- but who knows? scope 5 could have completely new features!

but what we do know is that scope 5 includes a new synth ( gizzmo, granular synth) a new compressor, a new eq and a new reverb with surround 5.1 capabillities.

but the new 5.0 platform might have extra value because of new features. maybe sc came up with some new things... and maybe they didnt..

I would wait and see what new things come with version 5. before buying anything.

gizzmo dosn't come with scope 5 - you pay extra for it

I did read somewhere that Scope 5 was going a lot further than planned - hence the delay - perhaps those annoying bugs are being zapped!

For a little extra you can buy a Scope card with a coupon for 5.0. I would suggest that anyone who has fewer than 3 cards to do that instead. It is a much better value. On the other hand, I don't want to buy another card until they make them PCIe. Therefore I'm not buying anything now. If they decide for some strange reason not to convert the cards to PCIe, then I guess I will never be buying anything from them again.

Well I'll chime in too. Whilst I'm very happy that Soniccore are moving the platform along, I don't think I'll be getting an xcite. I get the impression that Soniccore are aiming scope more as a compositional tool rather than post-production which is where I am at. Regardless of wonderful new compressors and eq's, without core features like madi and real automation I just can't see myself putting anymore money into the product especially since the AUS price for an XCite will be very hefty and for a few thousand more the Fairlight CC-1 systems will be knocking on the door. I dare say that I will hang on to my existing system and use it along side a CC-1.

I'm confused here because I thought someone said the previous versions of SFP work under Vista? Just not over 16 bits 44.1 KHZ when using Cubase 4.1 ROTFLMAO ((.

For your scope cards scope 5.0 will bring the vista/OSX support.
We heard about some GUI polishing and a few interesting new plugins.
scope 5 is free when you own 4.5.

Your question abour solaris is IMHO independent from 5.0.
Solaris plugin is an incredible synth always worth the bugs.
Keep in mind it is DSP hungry when using >3 poliphony in complex presets.

I hate to tell you this, but that's standard practice by most companies. They develop a version of a product for a certain period of time, and then at some point the next major upgrade is announced. At that point, all further development is for the new version...which includes any bug fixes or OS support. Examples:

-To use Native Instruments FM7 on Intel Macs, you have to upgrade to FM8 (costs money).
-To use Cakewalk Sonar on Vista, you have to upgrade to Sonar 7 (costs money).
-To open *.docx files on Microsoft Office for Mac, you have to upgrade to Office 2008 (costs money).

SC will not, and should not, fix any bugs or add Vista support for SP 4.0 for free. Thanks to SC's generosity, you can upgrade to 5.0 for free if you already 4.5. 4.5 was always a money upgrade to begin with, so nothing's changed. So please stop being a troll and grow up.
