What do we want from Creamware?

I think, first of all, they need to make new PCI-E cards or FireWire boxes with new DSPs. Of course, they MUST be backwards compatible. Then they need to revamp the graphical capabilities. You see synths like Absynth with a fancy, animated GUI next to CW's stuff that is basically a box with knobs and pages on it. Yes, I like that Scope devs are always easy to use, but sometimes the possibilities of functions are limited....

Then we need a software update with new features (undo, device naming in project) and the DSP coding software to be more readily available for big 3rd parties to jump on board. That would REALLY help!

Scope is really an amazing product, still perfectly useable in 2005, and all it needs are a few tweaks, and it's ready for primetime.

Last, but not least: CW needs GOOD MARKETING! NEW DOCUMENTATION! BETTER ENGLISH TRANSLATORS!

High quality mic preamp+AD converter. something like Apogee Track2 or SSL XLogic Channel Strip.

No problem, I very much agree with you. Can't they see that they are losing both money and credibility? How much could it possibly cost to fix the problem? Junk the existing system and get a new one for Goddess' sake!

Look at the amount of users on this forum.
 
Creamware are still alive & kicking amidst fearce competition in the 'pro audio' world.
 
Unlike some companies either going into liquidation, being bought over, or in smaller Co's cases being unable to compete with the marketplace, (such as 'soundart') Creamware have retained & built on their user base because of their support, here at Z

Seriously though, Creamware are doing well in the current marketplace, considering that so many other 'big name' manufacturers are making high quality hardware.
 
CWA need our feedback, opinions, views & ideas. I think they DO, genuinly benefit from such communication, so this is all good.
 
Personally, i'd like new hardware in a box.
A new Scope system, running top notch DSP's in 3 main formats:- Desktop, rack & PCI card.
 
oops....that almost sounds like what we'll have when the ASB's arrive...., ASB, NOAH & SFP !!!

I'm happy now though, apart from those undelivered Noah synths

yeah well it's a thought, a friend of mine uses the waves plugins bundle so i thought maybe a simulair product might come in handy.. But seriously the only thing i think is lacking is OS X support but they are going to fix that issue (anytme now CW......)

I'm with alfonso, a portable version of what we have with onboard memory and options to hook up on firewire or specific adapter card. Onboard memory will tremendously enhance granular processing, sampling, and will relieve the PCI bus from hundreds of reverb delay lines.

Legros, have you thought on how the UI for the sequencer should look like? Anyone else?

Oh yes, and onboard memory please!!

Doesn't matter if it's on new pci cards or external hardware, just so long as it can be integrated into an existing scope setup.

Would be good if they kept the Home, Project and Pro concept going - A CW card/box to suit everyones budget.

As a Noah user, I'd also be happy if they could come up with some new Scope i/o devices to allow direct audio & midi communication with Noah and ASB boxes over USB. I hate having to route them to SFP through 3rd party sequencer software - it's a joke!!

As for OSX support. I've been working with OSX daily for some time now and I'm not very impressed (Definately wouldn't want to run my Scope system on it). Nevertheless, It needs to be supported in order to maintain the Mac side of the user base.

ASB has the same sharks as your DSP card. If my memory serves well (wouldn't count too much on that;), it has 2 of them.

Some sort of preset conversion needs to be created for Noah. I would almost certainly have bought Vectron by now if I could load the presets up on the Noah's Vectron Player.

I wonder if the ASB box users might find themselves in a similar situation. i.e. All existing Minimax and P5 presets won't work.

...This is very short sighted on CW's part and needs sorted.

the asb has next gen sharcs and the new cards(assuming they happen) will have an even newer chip.......

of course, this is just an idle rumour....

atOm, I think a couple of different types of sequencer would be the way. One could be more of a standard 'key edit' style module, while another could be a state of the art step sequencer like the one on the Elektron Machinedrum, with 'parameter locks' per step & slides between parameter locks. The midi modules on the M'drum when loaded into all 16 parts/tracks, allow for a total of 128 CC parameter locks PER STEP....this is VERY cool.. very very cool. Wouldn't b quite the same via a mouse click, but it's still a thought

That's not true. Frank said they're using new DSPs. You couldn't possibly fit six MiniMax voices on two Scope-style DSPs.

Thinking of DSPs...I'd rather see ones with greater capacity for rendering studio kit than faster ones (they seem fast enough to do the job at hand as they are, no?)

Given the way silicon prices have fallen generally, I'd like to see Creamware offer more DSP power per buck.

I've paid a fair bit of cash for the 12 DSPs that I have (two 6-DSP boards)...it'd be nice if they had the capacity to render more kit as each step (i.e. card that you buy) is quite steep, financially. If the cards offered more for your money like this, I'd be more inclined to buy more software to run on them.

i'd always dreamed of some sort of uber interface that allows communication with gear old & new. there's things like old sync codes {fsk, CV/Gate}, synths lacking in the knob & slider dept with features you can only access via a 2x16 LED, scsi communication with samplers,
audio/midi triggered gates, lost features on random bits of gear that escape me at the moment.

stuff that could come in handy when it comes to interfacing with outboard gear beyond midi. seems the scope pool would be a fun place to connect those dots.

I want Creamware not to drop XTC developpement.
Even better would be if they find a way to let us use the SFP mode ALONG Xtc... (just look at EMU Patchmix).

Make the midi controllers usable in XTC mode as well (the old plugin interface let you saving those in the device itself).

Even if CW would halt the xtc developpement, at least I hope they won't totally scrape it from the Scope's software.

I bouth a CW plug yesterday and planning of purchasing three more next month. Knowing that CW intend to drop the mode I'm mainly using the Scope in, doesn't make me super happy...

I want Creamware to keep on working and innovating as they always did. If that means more paying upgrade (Scope 5.0 ?) so be it !!
