no need of an external mixer ! just plug the analog out to the monitor section of the stm2448 and not on the master out ! then you have a knob for the monitoring and a fader for the master . keep the master fader as high as you can without clip and adjust your monitoring volume with the knob ! there is two monitoring out. so as I have two kind of monitor , it's very easy to shift from one to the other ! (pulsari+,pulsar2,srb )

I've been trying to get some (any!) information on these speakers by contacting the UK distributor, but alas they appear to have succumbed to the dreaded Apathy disease

Oh well, looks I have to take that back and eat my hat (AKA crash helmet) again!

I think the Yorkville's are going to get my £££s. A further email from the UK distributor:

"But they will work at sub-zero temperatures & are moose-proof."

Could somebody from Canada with access to a Moose please verify this?

Sorry, if I seem a bit slow... but do most of the people on here regard the Mackie's (624s/824s) as one of the best range of studio monitors?

I just found a place selling them at a ridiculous price in comparison to the RRP.

the yorvilles are a better buy if you're on a budget(bang for the buck). that said, i gotta brag i just got some blue sky system 1s and they're pretty cool.......

Haven't played with the 624's but the Mackie HR-824's are stone-cold groovin. I've got a buddy who just dropped MAD cash on some Genelecs. And, in his studio, they sound UNBELIEVABLE... but of course, in his car the mix falls apart.

The Mackie's are NOT immediately flattering. They're very middle of the road with a bit of upper mid-boost and a tight-low end. They do distort a bit at the low E of my bass (an Ibanez fretless, which have played clean and unmarred elsewhere), but these things are easily worked around.

If you'll pardon the male-centric analogy, I compare them, not to the super hot girl who always makes you look good when there's people watching, who will let you down when you need them, but the more honest, less flashy -but still sexy, true to heart kind of girl who will let you know exactly where they stand, and while not perfect, are usually reliable, long-term companions.

How's that for an 'inner glimpse' into my creative process.

Little update...I have just ordered the last pair of Yorkvilles in the UK

Unless that was a clever marketing ploy...whatever, it was the moose-proof factor which swayed me
