We all know that CW cards are different, otherwise we wouldn't be here at all, but I'm still waiting on getting a "Working" asio driver still!

I've tried Via based mb's, KT133A, KT266, KT333. No luck

I've tried NForce based mb's, still not 100% satisfied. No stable sync, pops and clicks!!!

I've tried, i845 based mb's, same as NForce!
I've tried, i865/i875 based mb's, and I'm still getting pops and clicks!?!?

I've tried all the boards with both W2k and XP, and both OS's with and without ACPI support! Not to meniton ALL PCI slots. And can't still get the CW cards to work properly!

Something is definately wrong with the driver, specially since I'm not the only one having these problems!

So if CW won't get a working driver, then I'm outta patience! Going midiman, since I know it'll work on all the above mb's except for Via!

well about the directx HW acceleration...

The CW Cards are no "Soundcards" in the classical way.. so why should they release a Directx-driver for it?
the main usage is ASIO and thats damn good with the CW cards
Also for games or other programs using soundout MME is good enough.. or Onboard...
BTW i am using the CW in games via DirectX Software.. and it sounds very good though...
Ok i have no EAX or such stuff.. but it is no Creative Labs Card with its bugs and limitations

i've set up multiple systems and i can tell you that there's something wrong with ALL of your systems 'cause it works just fine(asio) here.

Incidentally the problems with the WAV driver are typically associated with apps that use the Directsound method of addressing the CW wav driver. The reason for this (as someone has mentioned recently elsewhere on these forums) is that at very low latency settings (which has probably been set for your ASIO/GSIF driver) windows Directsound cannot keep up since it does NOT allow direct access to the soundcard but has its own set of buffers. Since Creamware doesn't support a separate buffer size for its WAV drivers you will get skipping at low ULLI settings (nor do any other cards that I know of, tho often they will hard-code in a 200+ms latency). Note that the direct mapped sound driver (WAV/MME) is less susceptible to this as it bypasses the entire Directsound layer. In other words you can either change your ULLI setting to something that will stop the skipping, or in most apps you have the option to configure it to use the regular WAV/MME method of accessing the wav driver.

Winamp: Ctrl+P (preferences), Plugins>Output>"waveOut output v2.0x [out_wave.dll]", click 'configure' and under 'Device' choose either 'Microsoft Sound Mapper' (will default to the device you set as playback default in your control panel) or choose a specific wav driver (note that this must be loaded in current project to work). Also note that Shoutcast seems to only use DirectSound calls, I had moderately better luck with Oddcast as an alternative.

Media Player (7.0+): Thanks to Microsoft this ONLY supports DirectSound layer. To confirm this yourself Tools>Options, Devices tab, select 'Speakers' once the list fills out, choose Properties, under 'Audio device to use:' notice everything is a Directsound or [Emulated] option (my RME has the latter).

Quicktime: Start>Control Panel>Quicktime, 'Sound Out' and under 'Choose a device for playback:' select 'waveOut: Creamware Play/Rec X' (where X = # of wav driver, make sure this is loaded etc etc).

Wavelab/Soundforge/Recycle/Cool Edit etc. should be fairly obvious to users familiar with them, much as Logic/Sonar/Cubase&Nuendo users will become familiar with ASIO configuration before too long.

Hi

With upgrade policy like this, i am sure i will NOT buy anything from CW in the future. I will also NOT recommend CW stuff to anyone. This is the only peace of hardware in my computer I have to pay for a real upgrade.

What are you talking about? You get the Operating System updates free don't you? Do you see TC giving away free plugins (or even half price plugins) just for fun?

The guy hasn't been around very long? Nope, he posted last year. Sell the card and go buy yourself a soundblaster!
