My 17" Samsungs are the LM1770, but they aren´t good for dual purposes.

I´m afraid there aren´t any 17" Samsungs whith a slim frame. What about two 18" 181T displays?

The industry is just about to release some new monitors which claim to have the 1600x1200 resolution as their native resolution. I´m thinking of some Sonys. But unfortunately I´ve already tested them and they didn´t keep up whith the Samsungs, they were darker and didn´t have the clearness and contrast, althought their specs claimed to have a 700:1 contrast and 260cd candela. Also the 16ms responstime is nothing but marketing hype and are false numbers. Maybe NEC has some 17" displays that suit your needs. According to some online reviews they cut quite well, but I´ve never seen one in reality...
