OK, I've really gone and done it now... Just ordered a Plugiator

I hope I'm doing the right thing, over the years I've had various Scope systems... had to give up my Power Sampler and Luna cards (Modular III) when support for the Mac dried up... went over to ASB's with all the bugs etc. I was quite looking forward to the prospect of Xcite, but I guess it'll just run the same old buggy software

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be 3rd time lucky. Ray from Use Audio seems to have his finger on the button, he's knows about the lack of Duo mode on the Prodyssey, and is working on it for the next update.

As soon as it arrives (and after I've bought the Prodyssey plug-in, installed it, registered it etc. etc.), I'll let you know how it sounds compared to the ASB.

Now... if only someone can come up with a CC remapper for OSX (yes you can do it through Logic, but it's a pain), I could use the ASB to control the Plugiator and finally get those ARP sounds I've longed for!

nice you mention that one, but it really is a feature and the lack of 'true' duo was intended (according to a CWA comment years ago)
if I get this right it had something to do with difficulties to switch to regular polyphony as 'true-duo' was a completely different oscillator handling.
There is nothing to fix - it's an additional programming (if my mem serves me... )

Some (preferably Mr Arkadin and myself) used the 'feature' as a kind of running gag poking at the non-duo from time to time ...

Oh well, like I said, I'm done with it. If Sonic-core ever release a new firmware for the ASB's I'd certainly consider buying one again though.

Looking at the Plugiator, it seems to only have a Mic In, and no Audio In jacks. This would suggest that you can't process external audio through the filters of the synths on board, which would be a major omission compared to the ASB's. Hmmm...maybe Plugiator MkII will have audio inputs?

as far as Prodyssey ASB.....pretty sure you can set low/last note priority in the Additional pages....
Never had midi hang because that is actually a midi procedural problem....Remember, always Release before you program change....or you will have to return back to the preset source that started the hang in your outboard stuff and then give the note off message by a retrigger...
The Aliasing thing with sync/ring is another story......
And the input on the plugiator is only for the Vocoder according to Use/Audio ... no input to leslie here...

No that is not correct! You make it sound if only a prog change makes the hangbug...this is not true.

I have had all the 3 ASBS and ALL have voiscesteal bugs.
Voicesteal has nothing to do with release and program change...hanging notes, maybe, but htat even should not be possible..with good coding..I know my way around midi..sorry. The Note hanging can be reproduced by making a midisequence op 8th C2 notes, loop it. play your seq. Now play live and in realtime a C2 on top, voila. May take a step or so, but in the end it will hang for sure. Non of 150 synths i ever had has this kinda Crap!.


Last/Low note prio is primairly for when using the MONO voice mode. and even than, it doesnt matter in what position the Low switch is. The Retrig is alwys on ON for poly....

I think the time has been long enough for fixes, no more escapes!!

1...Firstly none of my "150 synths" hang unless there is a "Multi "program change from a controller during a note on or pedal held situation...
If you change a multi, and the channel is no longer represented at the controller for note off.....You will get a hanger on most synths...
2...there are 4 asb's...not 3.....I have 2 of them and none hang.....and none have voice stolen....
That is 3 channels of Multitimbraelity for 91 voices on the B4000 and all 12 voices of the Prodyssey(that includes 12 voices even using the Minimax Filter)....
I use an Alesis Quadrasynth as main Multi controller keeping channels consistant
Midi 14,15,16, B4000 asb , Prodyssey on channel 11, D-110 on Midi 1, Vk7 14,15,16,
Radias 8 and 9, SQ80 on 2 ...

as far as the Additional pages are concerned, I tested my Prody hooked up to the editor, and mono last low is in effect on mine...using prodyssey V2.31 with firmware v2.50...

The aliasing bug is a bugger though...which is why I grabbed the Use plugiator Bundle this week.

I never change programs! I program everything on the fly, not presets...so why has this multiswithcing and whatever got to do with the voice steal and hang bug??? ( the only pieces of gear where i switch presets is D50 and Motif XS) Well it may introduce hanging on other gear i dont know. I dont have experienced it with any other gear i owned. Ow yes 150 pc., I know it sound kinda bragging, that was not intended, it was more to point out that this is happening with the ASB series only. I never had a lost note or hang one, or a cutoff attackstage of my envelopes on any synth...

BTW you probably havent experienced voicestealing bug with the B4000, due to the fact is hasnt a (Attack)envelope. My opinion is that the bug originates in the enveloppe of some sort.

My former Prodyssey did have the least problems indeed, only the ringsync bu, but that doesnt bothered me much then..it was the most stable version (and most recent OS also ) The sound was okay, but i preferred my 8voiced polyevolver stack

I don have have USB connection or a midi out connected on the ASbs. Only midi in.
Got 2 x emagic AMT8 industry proven midi-interfaces.


Good for you it works..for 99% of the others it dont.

No way...its good to let fellow musicians see what they will buy, when they opt for a ASB..Good stuff get good reviews, flawed stuffed bad, so goes it. Praise the freedom of information.

I was the first one to adept the ASBs series I think and still am very happy with all the knobs and sounds coming from it...But only for space FX, weird blips and sick polymodded sounds. Strings and pads I do now with a D50, Motif XS and even Logic Studio Ensemble Synth. Even a 8th note repeating bar of lets say 200 measures through a song as a bassline hooper doenst work. Just simple 1600 x sequencing a 8th note C2 througout a song of 5min orso. It will randomly leave out some notes!


Therefore there are forums like this. If no negative note is allowed about S|C here, well too bad. Than it is not a forum but a promo site.

BTW mr ASB himself Ralph did post some stuff a couple a days ago on this site. Therefore they know the issues, even if I haven't mailed them. (what i did a few years ago, but after 10 mails and no reply, well..) My thinking is that the coder who did the ASB/SCope synths is working now at Use-Audio and therefore SonicCore lacks the skills to bugfix their own products. It s a shame the consumer is a victim of this.

Much pleasure with your plugiator, a few friends of mine had it and the said it was great and NO stealing bugs....

That is perfectly alright my friend......
Each of us comes from different backgrounds accumlating different experiences along the way...and we gather together under a blog with hopes that technology will seemlesly merge with our historical way of doing things we do...
some are similar or identical in technology , but differ in procedure...
And that is where hardware draws the line and tells us how to modify.....

Spent my 1st day with plugiator....
Sounds great...and has even has a panic knob to release away the hanger notes ....but, I wish it had user assignable control....and real knobs instead of encoders...you have to turn them about 8 times to go from 0 to 127...lol

Smaller that I thought it would be!

How do you find the Pro 12 ???...
It sounds a little noisy compared to the prody and max....
I wish they had left the FX off of most of the factory presets so you can hear the synth first and then add the FX...

Drums and bass has gotta go... need a new plug....

Definitely a bit of aliasing going on with the Pro-12. I didn't bother with Drums & Bass or Fmagia - not interested in either.

I've written to Ray @ UA, and suggested something along the lines of Modular III as a plug (Clavia have stopped production of the G2 series modulars and I think a modular plug would do very well)

Well....I have already had to have a talk with the plugiator people on behalf of 2 of the plugins........
there is 1 prodyssey glitch with the envelope skipping 2 notes out of 10 if the decay rate and release rate is close or equal to the time a repeated note is played.....
there is a PRO 12 glitch where if you switch between 2 polyphonic patches....the second patch wont engage full polyphony until after several chord strikes....(almost as if monophonic , duophonic or Unison without layering)The liklyhood that this happens is around 50 % it screws up and plays mono, or 50% it allows full chording from the start...
Also....regarding the whole unit, It would be nice if it had midi filters you could enable so it didnt freeze or act up when it receives midi clock at the input...
I have to disable MIDI Clock Internal on my Radias as a controller if the plugiator is after it in the midi chain...this means , regardless of channel, none of the radias sequence features can coexist with a Plugiator around...
And finally, it would have been nice if Plugiator used The out of range PolyAT channels for the overflow of CC#..... there are 21 empty PolyAT channels below an 88 note keyboard range, and 18 empty PolyAT channels they could have used above high C on an 88 note kybd....So where did they choose??? Smack in the middle of a typical 5 octave range keyboard, which means, polyphonic Aftertouch controllers wont work properly with the plugiator as key pressure on the overflow parameters will change all the parameters and knobs to 0 on release..

They replied that they would attempt to fix these on the next "PIL"....

After working with it, I dont mind the FMagia.....there are sounds on there that are beefy and out of the Analog domain.....and it is not sample or wave table based, but virtual FM......It is tied with the Lightwave for keepers....
I already have a multi timbrael Vocoder in my Radias so the first to go for me would be drums and bass and then the Vocodizer....
