yeah, enjoyed that thread too
someone was kidding about the poster of the original files being a Behringer sales manager, marking it clearly as
kidding.
Not related in any way to the poster in question, but you really
have to include assumptions about fake files posted in forums today.
Marketing power has just grown too big, and you know... there might always be an offer too good to refuse...
On the other hand... what would you expect from a copied RME design ?
Someone wrote the AD8K channels are an exact copy of a specific single (dual?) channel RME device.

Well in that price range I suppose that miracles shall not be expected, but how much I could see, for me at least, their solution will do a good job. This my first album that I shall release and I will ask the label people if they think that we will sell less records because we use Behringers solution this time,
I can't really comment the business rumors regarding 'copied RME design' because I'm not familiar with that info...

obviously someone opened both units and had a look side by side.
regarding price tags... I have an Adat LX20 - the conversion board is (estimated cost for industrial production) at best a 10 bucks piece of gear.
companies who do active research and developement have to charge way more than the parts alone to keep the overall business running. There is not even a choice or any other option.
Supporting B-stuff is supporting decrease in technology, that simple...

there IS a subtle difference in the best gear, that is most apparent if there are many tracks involved(small differences multiplied by many tracks becomes a glaring difference), BUT, using a behringer converter is NOT the reason why a recording or piece of music would suck!
c4ever, don't tell the label if you use an ADA-8000. just make a good sounding record and they'll be happy. the less they now that might prejudice their belief in your record, the better.
