Does the XITE have any fans to cool all those 18 DSPs?

not that i saw. i'll double check. it was on all day and temperature didn't seem to be a problem. it was very loud there, i wouldn't have heard a fan if there was one, but i didn't see any sign of a fan.

one nice thing about the pci-e breakout, is that the cable can be 10meters long. it would be very easy to isolate the computer somewhere else, so that noise from the computer wouldn't be an issue.

No but at the Namm, one should expect the xite-1 to be surrounded by fans wanting to have one of these units !!! :D

afaik, OSX is working.
there may still be some bugfixes needed, but i expect OSX and Vista when the product is released. there's still no official word on a release date. i can assure you this, however. S/C would like nothing better than to release the new product asap...

Any news of any software updates such as Modular 3, STS sampler, 96khz operation, etc?

mod3 and sts? i don't know yet, i would think not so much.

as i understand it, what's under the hood has changed considerably for the whole platform. the interface, not so much...i think most of the time has been spent on stuff not obvious to the end user...

The hardware, vista/mac, and other under the hood works are most important ofcourse, just hoping for a few extra goodies.

IIRC, on the first announcement, Holger or Ralf stated quite clearly that it had no fan...

I'm guessing that as well as there being brand new plugins, there's also been a number of the existing plugins that have been rebuilt so as to be optimized for the new sharcs in XITE. Maybe that's what the 'X' signifies on the 'STM 2448 3xMX' & 'PSY Q X' in the Routing Window screenshot.

Wow, and it's not even 40cm (16 inches) deep. THAT is cool!!

come on, stereo sends on the STM2448 already? and 8 of them :)
lots of great plugs for scope, and there are lots of people with stereo external effects!

so..can i connect those z-links to my a16 ultra? that would be pretty awesome.

the only other thing i would like is to allow native 98/84khz while some of the connections are 48/42
some kind of sample rate halver/doubler

then stuff which is directly connected would be higher rate, but ADAT connections would be at half speed but still usable.
electronically its not a big deal, maybe can be done in software? but it might require circuit changes, ill live without it if thats the case!

i can haz xite-1 soon plz?

I would assume Z-link is Z-link and that the new A16U's only differ cosmetically.
