All i need now is the equipment to make my own PCB's (printed circuit boards)
and then i'll be completley independent.

I've think about that too, but I've found that it is interinsting only if you do an important amount of pcb, ..If the starting kit is not so much expensive, with all product needed and the pcb, the drilling tool etc, a printed pcb will cost you about 7-10 euro (count the bad one, the material..), then you wwill have to drill them..then your time..
and think you will have to store some dangerous product, not so good if you have some childrens in the house..
when you see that MFOS and other sell ready PCB for a so little price..the save is not so much..but the independent thing is the good one..
maybe you can take a look too to alternative printing solution, as "toner" method" etc..that are cheaper and sometime don't need a big printing system.

But then again. I allready had a good ammount of tools.
Iv'e done alot of DIY stuff in my short time here on earth (soon 30 years).
Not electronical stuff, but furniture (hope my spelling is correct),
speakers, dj equipment stands, D.A.W stations.
So all i really need is the etch-tank CB's and some chemicals.

I do not have children, only a girlfriend, and shes all technical like me.
So storing dangerous products is not too much of a problem for me.
But i can imagine what could go wrong if i did have small children.

It's true as you say, ready to solder PCB's ain't that expensive.
But then again when making your own curcuit built from scratch,
there are no ready PCB's for that.
True, you can use "labb-cards" or bread boards...
but i only use em for testing purposses.
When im done testing, then my curcuit's need a real sturdy board

In that case you would have to ask friend to do it, or a company with PCB services.
Only problem is, usually friends can be lazy and these PCB companies,
usually you have to order quite an amount of PCB's to get the right price.
Then we have shipping. Some stuff from certain countries can take up to 4 weeks before they arrive in Sweden where i live.
And most often i have to pay duty taxes, even when buying used stuff over seas.

I am planning on making alot of stuff from scratch.
Iv'e really set my mind on making this a big part of my life.

Taking all these "issues" under consideration, then for me having all the necessary equipment is the best deal.

But if one is satisfied with kits then all of this equipment will just mean badly spent money. I totally agree on this.

Btw, iv'e just build the frame for a UV box.
Im thinking of putting a timer in, and a buzzer that goes "beeep" when
the card is ready for etching

I've done some PCBs at home and a lot of things can go wrong. Here in US you can get PCBs done relatively cheaply and fast. Some even give you the free PCB software called EaglePCB or something like that.

I forgot, for help using the SwicherCAD, u can subscribe to the Yahoo group called "LTSpice".

I'm impressed with your build and the music you've created with it. I agree that the effort in construction is rewarded with the use of the device. I've tried constructing a few of the projects found in old Practical Electronics and Practical Audio magazines and have been impressed with the results and I'm inclined to use the devices wherever I can in a piece, its the satisfaction of knowing I constructed it, I'm sure it makes the music sound better. A year ago I built a midiBox from the ucapps webring and it has been endlessly useful. I just wish I'd had the sense to use wood for the unit as you have as I found shaping that front panel to accept all the controllers was hard enough but I also used aluminum for the box and I was left with a rough finish with some sharp corners even after hours of work and shaping. But what you have achieved is impressive.

Recently I have been looking into incorpoating Multi Touch Controllers with Scope to provide an intuitive interface so I can operate all the controllers/knobs in a Scope creation from one screen with both hands. The MTC outputs midi data relating to what your hands are doing on the screen. I know this takes things away from the soldering iron and circuit design but as controllers for Scope I think the unit could work really well. And building a Multi Touch Controller Table is apparently quite straight forward. If I achieve a finished construction I'll post up the results.

ReacTable is another device which has open-source scripting which with ReacTIVision enable multiple intuitive inputs for controlling midi parameters using a WebCam interface.

There are other new interface controllers along the same design which could be incorporated into use with the Scope Platform. I find it all an exciting way to bring new control to the Scope interface.

I most definetly want a piece of that.
Will be very interesting to see the results.

I primarly use wood just because it looks and feels old school.
The fact that it is easy to work with is just a bonus
I loove wood.

And my front panel is made of plain black steal.
I then puchased a laminated printout of my design
with adhesive back. This was glued to the metal plate.

I recently joined the MIDIbox forum

Im in progress with buiding the V2 SID, starting with two SID chips
for stereo functionality.

And im also in progress of building a MB64.
It will have 64 faders/slide potentiometers for controlling
mixer(s) in Scope.
16 buttons for controlling Drummachines etc.
And 16 swicthes for turning sendFX on and of.

Will be soo much fun when mixing my Reggae/Dub album live.

Finaly im done with my SID synthersizer.

I should have been more carefull.
I coloured the case using a spraycan.
It turned out well, though i forgot about the clear coating.....
The case gets kinda sticky when it's hot indors...like today..
Dust and other stuffies attaches itself to my precious case...not very smart.
Iv'e also managed to scrath the case..but i wont show that

I've exchanged the original red LED with an amber LED.
Goes together well with the silver knob.


Despite all the mistakes im satisfied.

There is two 6581's in my shebeast.

I recorded some sounds yesterday...but it was boring.
So i sat down yesterday and produced this little thing.
Israeli Psychedelic Trance inna Astral Projection style.
Been a few years since i used to produce stuff like this,
but it turned out pretty well.

Name of the song is "Mosquitos" and it is aprox 7 min long.
The Mp3 file is at 128Kbps and it is about 6,6 Mb large.
It might be a bit bassy..

Sounds in the song comes from my SID and miniscope from Scope Fusion Platform (SFP).
Drums from SFP to. That Adern Kick me is awesome!

I have alot to do now. Gotta fill this SID wih presets.
The beautyfull thing is, due to the bankstick configuration,
i can fill this baby with about 900 presets. Lovely!

This is nothing short of modern day alchemy. Turning a bunch of wires, tin/lead and plastic into a tangible device that then creates a new beautiful structure; Mosquitos! Very Cool indeed Jngaelin.

Damn, i should be completing my next project,
a midi controller.
But im having a hard time getting away from the SID...

It's like 900 presets to make for it...and...it's very addictive.

And yes, together with scope it's awesome!

Unfortunatly the MIDI 2 CV device i used with my SoundLab is badly broken.
Not really fixable. So i gotta build a new one.
I just have to make a SID/Soundlab collab track.
