You can use then a QX9650.. 4 cores and 1333 MHz FSB.. or a QX9770 with a 1600 MHz FSB...

and if that's not enough, they're highly overclockeable

because the E6850 outperforms the quad when using the music apps we use.

the 1.8volt requirement is for the ram on an intel motherboard.

on Siriusbliss' computer i used kingston valueram. it works perfectly. scope4live used some really nice stuff. he could give the details.

One can tweak the latency ( CL5 to CL4 etc. ) as well as the voltage ( 1.8v to 1.9v, or 1.9v to 1.8v ) in Intel's BIOS. This is a new approach for Intel as they attempt to win over the enthusiast crowd.

The E6850 is the best bang for a buck right now. Our apps can't take advantage of the fast QX's until this summer probably, even though everyone says NAMM '08. I tend to not trust what Sonar / Cubase developers say anymore. Memory addressing appears to be the bottleneck, not the CPU's IPS, or additional threads. The QX series will have more cache, and the 1333 / 1600 FSB will beat the E6850's hands down w/ application optimisations only. So for now the cheap E6850 w/ the PAE 3GB switch will be the best way to go IMHO.

Just having a P35 / G33 mobo is a smart move. I always try to talk myself into a differnet over-researched approach to my designs, but GaryB has done my last 5 designs, and as usual saved me money and proved that conservatism is PC correct. Personal Computer wise, and Politically Correct as well.

although I expected that it's nice to hear from you it does. they have a nice manufacturer/device compatibility tool, so it's easy to determine whether it's worth thinking about it or not

ask scope4live what he used, or use the Kingston.
you won't be able to use the Corsair.

nice case, but it'll never accept a full length card. most cool gaming cases won't. there aren't many full length cards that gamers use...

it's a bit of a hassle finding cases that do fit full length pci cards, a NOS Chieftec of Antec TX series would be perfect, but probably hard to find. for some reason, they aren't making many cases with room for a full size card these days, i guess there aren't a lot of big cards out there...

btw- that motherboard has no ps2 connectors. you will need to use USB for the keyboard/mouse.....

usb kbd! hope it will not make any problem.

no, the use of USB for the kbd will not be a problem with that mobo....
