i have all three and they're all good for something.
i would never want to use sam for tracking/construction. sonar and cubase are superior there for me. i love sam for certain audio editing features and for mastering a cd. use what you like, they all work fine. none of those companies are cool.

They don't have to be "cool", just minimally honest. Steiny are not anymore I'm afraid. Not even at the most minimal level. That's the issue, for me anyways.
All my ranting aside, garyb is right , in that no piece of software will make you a better engineer or musician. Pick what works for you and go for it.

There is a piece of hardware that is GUARANTEED to make the most horrible mixes sound incredible though!

Do you feel that you are "missing something" with your current set-up? Sounds like you've got a very workable, stable DAW...
I'd echo the thoughts of Mr Adarkin re: Steinberg. I'm using Cubase SL2 and have no plans to upgrade that whatsoever. It does have some problems, but I can live with them...I'm don't know what new/additional problems an upgrade may bring, so I'm not willing to try that. Besides, I'd only be interested in an upgrade to SL3, which I don't think Steinberg are offering anymore
