So, Scope Home will have 1 DSP, Project 2 DSP's and Pro 4-6 DSP's. That's if they decide to use the 400Mhz sharc's. The 200Mhz ones are much cheaper if I remember well...

Surely a single card system with new sharcs would produce less heat than a current 45 dsp system using 3 Scope PRo cards?
Think about of what a system with 3 cards could do, if one card would have the power of 60DSPs, that would be the power of 180SHARCS...

Thats really crazy....

Are these treats pure rumours or true?

if they release a scope card/controller in a sort of ASB box,the modular structure of adding cards would be lost,a more commercial solution for sure, but less professional!

since you seem to be about some serious decisions (4 cards per PC etc) I'd take the rumours at least into consideration...

cheers, tom

Well yes,but if its gonna be like i say a sort of ASB,it don't interest me,and if it are new cards what they gonna cost and will you get in the beginning huge soft packs bundled,i think not? it gonna be flexibler but more pricy perhaps.(you will pay the same amounth for a pro card like now,but will not get the all softs with it)

EDIT:Probably twice the power, but with less softs!,and as you know power makes you hungry to buy softs.

now i buy all those cards because i already have stacks of softs.(and the SDK)

(SDK will maybe not more available for the new systems, who knows?)

since it's all through the grapewine one has to be careful
but imho it's very likely that whatever follows will have a ton of local memory to get rid of the infamous PCI bandwitdth issue.

cheers, Tom

one thing that i have heard about a possible migration, is that the plugins stay the same. you won't lose software that way.

i agree that an external box, even one that behaves like the internal cards, is less pro and less elegant. the extra complexity of the box and those damn firewire ports(not nearly as reliable as a pci slot, fw works MOST of the time. pci works ALL of the time), means that it's not as cool. a fw box is easier for non tech savvy consumers.....

garyb, i agree with you about firewire/usb ports performance, pcmcia is stronger though.

SOMAX you crazy fucker, these are uncharted territories for most of us, it'll be good to have your results, please. although i second a the 2-computers/adat idea, be it laptop/desktop, laptop/laptop or desktop/desktop, the magma products are shining. Good luck to you

It is necessary to manufacture an external soundcard & full dsp and transitor (analog) + connection firewire to the PC.
The first soundcard analogic ; )
If one want durable it is firewire, there does not have photo, before yesterday it was ISA, then PCI, PCI express and tomorrow ? The future is the compact PC, smaller, it would be necessary to start to calculate into external.
I am sure that the PC will finish with dimensions of pocket in step a long time, in 15 years they will not be larger than a walkman CD; )
If Creamware is able to make hardware-synth and soundcard, mix and it is the top ; )
