Well, I think the current mechanism is a pretty good deterrent- requiring the registering user to provide an email address, and then click on a link in the confirmation email. We really have far less spam attempts than one would expect on a public forum.

I always delete spam as soon as I see it (along with the users that posted them). But I don't always see it. Please point me to the offending topics.

A few interesting points guys:

I can’t assure that there are more than 30.000 boards sold out there just because Subhuman told me so, but he was a serious guy, I don’t see why I should not trust what he told me at that time.

About the forum members:
Those speaking English, predominantly those living in Europe and USA, have to think that not everybody can read and write about technology in a forum like this one. It is quite hard to do so, believe me. I have spent several years practicing firm to be able to “understand” what you say fully, and also to express myself en plain English so everybody “understand” me in turn. Even like this I don’t know all I would like to know. I am constantly learning new words, expressions and unusual idiom quirks from native speakers in the Z, which are sometimes difficult to grasp without a clear context.

Amount of board owners and forum subscribers:
What I mean by this, is that MANY Scope owners are out there that will never come to the forum, just because of the language barrier that exists between them and the forum.
I’m sure there are many people who don’t even speak a poor English and are excellent musicians who have Scope boards. Language is an important barrier when you think of using a forum, most of all for those starting up in this complex technological world of virtual music and computers.

About language translation in software:
Obviously, for practical and economical reasons, software is mainly translated to:

First: English
Second: French
Third: German

There are plenty of languages that will never be covered by small companies like Creamware. That would be far too expensive of a job just for a few guys that will get the board, so they have to drink so English till they get the idea of what they are clicking.

Myself I know 3 other people who are happy with their systems as is (one of them is still using v1.2) and aren't interested in participating on forums or chasing for 64 bit versions of scope drivers! So the number that Nestor quotes doesn't surprise me.

I know I only have two posts so far but thanks for keeping My registration active. For some reason I can't get to the forum from my studio machine so I'm making this post from my video editor. I've only had my scope pro for a short time and I've got a lot to learn. It seems that "lurking" is considered low life or something in here but that's how I'm learning. I sure don't want to make some stupid post and get piled on by users that have been there and done that which I have seen in some threads. Some folks just don't feel comfortable posting comments in a group of experts until they gain some knowledge. I've got lots of questions like "how the heck do I get the xtc stuff working?" but I thought I'd read previous threads for awhile before I just start spewing junk out of my piehole. In short, not every quiet member is a leech, some are just considerate.

Didn't mean to disrespect the lurkers at all!

I've gained plenty of insight at other forums just by lurking. And I know I've registered at some forums only to post my one question, get my answer, and leave. Hey, y'know, whatever works.

I was primarily deleting accounts for those that registered and then never posted, and *never even logged in*. If you've logged in to browse/lurk anytime recently, you're in no danger of being removed.
