hi,

really strange, our systems are running "out of the box" without tweaking like a clock...
try to install xp without any changes.
(acpi multiprocessor)

i´m using my 2 pulsars in slot 1 and 5.

could it be the "xp crashes on hardware midi-in" problem?
are there running hidden processes like dvd-software in the background?
i had problems with win dvd 4. (WinCinemaMgr.exe)
i have to close this process to get crackle-free asio sound @ high cpu load.

all the best,
andre

I ahev a P4P800-Dlx based system that runs fine. The only problem I have had since building it was when the Pulsar II shared an IRQ with my UAD-1 card. But I dont think that was the mobo's fault. Once I separated them everyting is a solid as a rock, including when HT is enabled.

Is your windows installed as ACPI multiprocessor? (check in hardware properties->computer)

Based on what I have read in this post and others....

I placed my two CW cards (Pulsar II and SRB) in slots 1 and 5 in an Asus P4P-E 800 Deluxe. Disabled onboard sound.

Now they share an IRQ that is unique to only them. Scope v4 runs fine with no crackles at all.

Awaiting my recently purchased version of Cubase SX 2 to test the system out in a multitrack environment.

Thanks to everyone who has done all the legwork on these mobo's.

Cheers

Hello,

I have an Asus P4P Deluxe and it's working fine and I have not done any. tweaking to it whatsoever except when I first had the Pulsar boards installed, because it wasn't accepting midi or audio. All I did was shift the cards up one PCI slot higher and everything has worked like a charm since. So I find it strange you have had all these problems. And I have hyperthreading enabled.

Regards

Can sombody tell me wich one you got?I want it to work with PowerPulsar and AGP4x/8x.
Because i'm wandering here for two weeks and cannot decide wich specific mobo fits like a glove.

I know someone that is running the AsusP4TE with Rimm-slot memory(RDRAM?)And on this forum the P4C800 and P4P800 versions are being metioned. Now i'm stuck on this list:

1) Asus P4C800 Deluxe, i875P (Lan, Sound, 1394, Sata, Raid) € 152,- 25-05

2) Asus P4C800, i875P (Lan, Sound, Sata, Raid) € 144,- 25-05

3) Asus P4C800-E Deluxe, i875P (Lan, Sound, 1394, Sata, Raid) € 175,- 25-05

4) Asus P4P800 Deluxe, i865PE (Lan, Sound, 1934, Sata, Raid, WiFi) € 111,- 25-05

5) Asus P4P800, i865PE (Lan, Sound, WiFi) € 95,- 25-05

6) Asus P4P800-E Deluxe, 865PE (Sound, G-Lan, Sata-Raid , 1394) € 113,- 25-05

7) Asus P4P800-VM, i865G (Lan, Sound, Vga, Sata) € 92,- 25-05

 Asus P4P800S, i848P (Lan, Sound, Sata, WiFi) € 66,- 25-05

9) Asus P4P800S-E Deluxe, i848P (Lan, Sound, 1394, Sata, WiFi) € 113,- 25-05

10) Asus P4TE i850 ...

If you got one of these systems working extreeeeemly well , pleaze mention it here.
And we can make a list of working mobo's as well in the futere(there already are some). Just mention the full mobo type and things like HT,Memtype, chipset.

Meanwhile thanks!
Greetingz Casper

hi,
i can recommend the ASUS P4 P800 SE.
you will need a pci firewire interface with an adaptec tsb chipset to run a powercore firewire... (if required)

best andre

I think Andre might be right (again!)

when I got my new system I've put my 3 CW boards in and just got the whole thing going and thought I'll tweak it while I'm setting it up with the rest of my studio.
And it was working perfect.

then I remember the dual boot so I wanted to reinstall anyway.....so I did, now this time with all the tweaks known en found, like Standard PC and so on ( I'm learning more and more on my old age)

Now at the point to return to ACPI

I thought I had solved the freezing problem but NOT.

for the board asusp4p800 in bios are there any special things I could do?

update:
for the moment its doing ok again as I typ this I'm reinstalling my (old) video-card , as I had put a cheap( you know I'm Dutch after all) ATI dual head, I think that was the cause off freezing, in combination with midi??

I wanted the matrox P650 but they had here in the shop only the P750, so I tryed a a cheapy, forgot all about it now put the original also cheap back in and reordered the P650.

Hi , i now bought the system i discribed above. After having difficulties with my bios screen-mode. (it displayed gibberisch due to my matrox p750) Inserting a pci video card did the trick. My first problems were sudden hanging of the system using Cubase SX.
No it wasn't active sensing.... It was the HyperThreading option!! Then i got a problem with cubase termenating itself at the moment of playing with asio(i thought). But it was due to a recorded file that was still existing in the pool but was 0kb on disk. Deleting this from the pool did the trick.
Unfortunately i only got to use the default asio driver. The others won't work and still cause abnormal termination of cubase SX....
Why???
