Meanwhile, back at Thunderbirds HQ, amid the deafening silence of the underground bunker, Brains hears a slight dink. The ancients called this the "sound of the penny dropping".

Are you seriously saying, that you have been bashing Xite for so long without even making yourself familiar with the basics?

Hi Brains,

Yes. It's really exactly the same as the present cards except it's an external box and PCIe with preamps. And more horsepower under the hood. As far as I can see it won't do much more than the current cards. Same software, same everything. Except bigger, faster and, etc, etc. More room for more complex DSP-hungry algos and future developments. For some who need the power it will be a necessity. Me, I got overhead to spare and some as it is. I don't do particularly big projects. 2 x 15's Scopers, UAD and DualCore, more than enough for me. Xcite's portability is a big come on tho. It would mean I could track drums on location wherever very easily. Portability is the big one for me, could be really useful.

All the best.

HA! So much for portability! And why do they have to rewrite the modules for it if it is exactly the same? Now I know it's doomed. Ridiculous product. End of subject.

So..you have had 0 idea what the xite is and you are still making ..your oppinions on it like there is no tomorrow?Sorry but how old are you?
Its absurd Braincell....sorry but i dont even know how anybody can take you serious on this forum.
To go atleast a bit on Topic here....i make a LOT of my income using Flexor 1.5 at the moment on scope and i DO plan to upgrade to 3.0 and i also plan to upgrade to scope5...so what are my options...miss on flexor 3 or scope 5.This is a sucky situation for me.And spare me the ...you could go vst..i just do not want to,if there isnt an option to go 3.0 and scope v5 i am screwed.

1) A laptop and and an Xite will still be lighter than a rackmount PC with scope cards. For me, that matters.

And why do they have to rewrite the modules for it if it is exactly the same?
2) You are basing your question on a misunderstanding. It will be "the same" to the user, but that does not say, it is the same situation "under the hood"

Now I know it's doomed. Ridiculous product. End of subject.
You finally ended the last bit of reason to take you serious. Spending so much time arguing how something is wrong in so many ways - without even spending 2 minutes on getting to know the very most basic about the product.

As Gary wrote. You just like to be negative. And sometimes you can sound reasonable, but now that your bluff about knowing *hit about what you are talking about, it is clear, that the occasions, where you might have had something right to say ... likely where merely hit or miss lucky pieces of text. When saying so much uninformed random stuff, sometimes you will hit something right. Why do you want to put up with this yourself? What do you gain from your choice of being negative?

Laptop + Xite + a few pres = Voila. Sounds extremely portable to me. Try luggin' round an Otari tape machine + mixing desk + snakes all in flight cases then you'll understand it's appeal. It should well proove to be an extremely flexible system for any kind of music production.

May be we could change the thread title : "Xite for Braincell ? - petition" .... I already have the answer to that question ... I would suggest Flexor is not for Braincell either ... a lot more complicated than connecting Xite to a computer ...

Funny thread really ....

what kind of pc do I have to buy to be able:

- to port a scope project containing 12 modular patches that fully load 28 dsps to cubase + new vst flexor plugin
- use it in realtime with low latency?

I think you should open a new thread for that question in order to get anough answers... Only few people (flexor users) will see it otherwise. just a suggestion of course... hope you'll find the answer !

ok. should have written some more lines to clarify my intention. ;)

I don´t want to buy a new computer. :) the question is: can a flexor VST plugin actually be as powerful as the flexor modules used in sc modular synth. I remember having trouble even with Kontakt 3 playing a few instruments based on samples. that should not be very CPU intensive at all, but we had to restart the final mixdown serveral times because of voodoo timing and sound failures. what will happen with 12 instances of flexor running?

Seeing as the VSTi of FleXor isn't yet available (it's probably still in development) no-one can answer that, except perhaps Red Muze, and until it's fully tested even he probably doesn't know.

well, hope I will know the answer before upgrading to scope 5 and buying the new flexor version. :)

but perhaps there are some experiences with comparable VST instruments? In my opinion, as soon as the plugin has to share the CPU with other programs and the operating system, there is always the risk of nondeterministic behaviour...

I am a guitarist a singer and a music therapist. When I play guitar and sing, I don't use sequenzers and I would love to have Xite. And when I do music therapy, I would in some instances love to have Xite too.
Does using multitrack recording of audio count as using a sequencer? That's the only thing I use - not familiar with any of the sequencer packages these days. Playing live is also a lot of fun, too!
