Anyone can tell me if the expresscard for laptop is 34 or 54? Or would fit in both? The 54 conector is bigger, so if you have a laptop with 34 one, will cannot plug that in.

Another question, what about a cut down version of the Xite-1? Is not planned at all, or maybe in the future, any news?

All this talk about Solaris and Xite. Anyone other than I interested just in Scope 5 w/ the old cards? I can't understand why they (S/C) can't release it already and let only Xite buyers wait. Or if it's not finished, please, release a public beta or release candidate.

That doesn't sound like upgrade. I've heard some companies provide upgrade options for hardware too. (ProTools, anyone?). I'm pretty sure this forum alone would buy A LOT of xites if there were a decent upgrade path from old cards.

The driver model for Vista (and sadly Windows 7) is a huge problem, and I seriously can't see why Microsoft chose to do it this way, where you can't address the hardware directly from your application, without passing through the OS!

Because at least 80% of Windows XP crashes come from drivers that are not written to the spec. And in XP drivers were able to crash the OS. (Actually drivers did not, XP does it itself - the only sane option to do when a driver misbehaves). Expect a lot better stability in Vista, not to mention Win7 that is already a lot better than Vista (there was the 20% of other crashes than drivers, not anymore).

Im talking about Xite and Solaris because they're future - I think the current cards are obsolete - Xite have better stability, better memory subsystem and are faster. SC can't go up against the competition with the current cards.

SC could raise the price of Xite with $1000 and then give you those $1000 back to you for upgrading from the current cards.

UAD2 Quad (without much software) costs $1500 for 4 * ADSP-21369 and you need 3 Quad cards to equal the power of Xite. SC could offer vouchers for the Shop if you upgraded from the current cards.

I really don't understand the point of asking that SC offer a hardware upgrade when anyone who wants that can just sell their existing cards here on the forum or ebay or something & put the money towards an XITE. If SC offered a HW upgrade then it would be them that would have to begin selling Used cards, which would cost them time which = money. Sorry. but it just seems like asking for a HW upgrade path from SC is asking too much.

I'm pretty sure that JimmyV said it uses the 34 version.

Also for anyone who wants to become more mobile, the 34mm PCI-e connector is what Soniccore chose to use. The 54mm size had stability issues.

Recent trends in laptop designs from Lenovo and Sager are using a larger port for 2 x external connectors.

He refers to PCI-e, not to Expresscard.

Yup, but EC 34 or EC45 do refer to the Express Card Slots (external).

It's the 34, but with the PCI-e 1X, I think you can go with the narrower slot and use an adapter on the notebooks.
Not sure all the options, since the demo unit at NAMM had the wide slot.

I'm sure SC is planning a scaled down version at some point in the future.

x1, as ralf told me once when I asked him. express cards are x1, too, so this makes sense, since there was no hint yet on degraded performance when going mobile.

The Bricasto Model 7 is the same.....
With the new 5.1 Room for SFP, the XITE-1 can do surround w/ quality verb and then master,FX and synths too.

XITE-1 sure looks even better than ever.

Let us be fair - The reverbs in PCM96 and M7 are in another league - they're not just a little bit better - they are WAY better.

You could also compare the preamps of the Xite with AMS Neve 1073 DPD - http://www.thomann.de/gb/ams_neve_1073_ ... stereo.htm or compare the the AD stage with Lavry Ad122 - http://vintageking.com/Shop-New-Categor ... 2-96-MKIII - well they're in a different league.

Xite is an awesome product, but.............................
