Great news! I'm also very curious about V5 for my current cards comig out in a day or two. I hope there are some bugfixes too, e.g. MIDI assignments being remembered after reopening a project. Maybe there even might be an option to hide some virtual "cables" to improve the overview of the project? ;)
Oh well, I'm pretty sure we won't be disappointed. :)

Hi Jimmy,
I can't imagine what it feels like to be the only person in the world with an XITE-1! When will someone else own up here to having one.

Couple of questions.
How are project loading times now - are they equally sped up, compared to say, preset loading times?

And could you see if this device
http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=23809
(the Whole-Project Preset List free module) device
still works in v5?

thanks,
Ben

Good idea Ben......

It works perfectly and is a great snapshot device.
The projects load around the same speed, but keep in mind a project on the XITE-1 is like having 7 or 8 Scope Pros being loaded, and I definately max these babies out.

The Fraxx77 tool works flawlessley and I can control it using the " Mute all Controllers " feature on my KS88's. This allows me to reset my hardware controllers, while not causing jumps in the software. I can then send a snapshot from there or press a button for a program change which goes to the PRJ device and reset the mixers, synths and effects.

I tested by making 2 presets of the FB5 mixer. 001 was all faders at the bottom of their throw, and then back to unity gain @ 0db.............ankyuvarymush.......works like a charm.

I passed up some free lap dances on my birthday to be with my XITE-1..........I sleep 15 feet away from it, and have a loaded sawed off close by... :D

Here's some great fixes I do wish to thank the SC crew for addressing too.
MIDI CC assignments are stored and remembered on my B2003.
Six String 5.0 works flawlessley as well. It use to load up with the Delay engaged no matter what preset I had. I always prefer certain Delays so I disable chorus, and delay on the 6 String and use SpaceF's mixer and their insert load presets for various flavors. That way I can have any effect I want by pressing a button, which disables and enables the bypass buttons of the chosen effects in the channels....................nifty stuff indeed..

There's no more hourglass lingering on, or weird arrows appearing on heavy loads.
All in all I can proudly say it was worth the wait, as I have reaplaced the power of the 3 x Scope Giga Daws, and have a smooth experience as if the app has been around for years.
Actually I guess it has.

Guys who have the cards and go to 5.0 are going to be extremely happy as I believe it's not just a makeover.
And anyone who whines about a price, if there is one, should go to Steinberg, Logic or M$ and compare prices.....

I have never even heard of a 10 year old soundcard, or one that continues to be upgraded and survive the hordes of lame, mediocre products that plague the markets....

If I were a rich man I would fly everyone of these chaps to Vegas and make sure that they induldge in every desire imaginable.......

My Remington 700 is cheaper than most VSTi's.......
The diamond blade hacksaw was cheaper than Kontakt 2 Player......
I fear the UAD, PoCo and ProTools hit squads.

Let us not forget Brotha' Man Hifiboom.
His great SDK devices work flawlessley as well.
I like the BDX Valve Filter and for old Vintage endless loopers, the Advanced Clock Delay is quite accurate.

As soon as the next shipment arrives, then I'll be willing to 'own up to having one'

Jimmy - keep meaning to ask - are any of the MIDI or I/O modules re-nameable or re-labelable yet?

Thanks,

Greg

The MIDI modules allow serious routing but no re naming.
But Bidule does as the lower part of the screen demonstrates.

One of the MIDI A Source modules options is the mic pre....?
Wonder what I can do with that....... :-?

Yes, I have Bidule, but don't use it due to too much clutter from other applications running - like SAMPLITUDE .
(don't be dissin' the mighty Samplitude - bad joojoo) :P

Great news. Does anyone know how long before the OSX version comes out?

I'm asking because my PC motherboard totally died, so looking at alternatives, including Mac.

Cheers,

Hey Jimmy,

A coupe questions I haven't seen, or at least missed in the flurry:

Are you able to load V4.5 projects into V5.0?

And the longshot: Do you have the XITE in the same system as a PCI-based card? I'm curious if you can run them simultaneously (I know that you can't link them via s/w and STDM like multiple PCI cards)? Is it possible to run both apps and link via ADAT (or whatever)?

If V4.5/PCI-based (or better yet, V5.0/PCI-based cards!) and V5.0/XITE can co-exist, this would be a great way to maintain some of the IOs of a multi-card system.

Have you slept since your b-day present arrived?

Thanks,
Cory

I'll be testing the dual PCI-e and existing PCI card scenario once my Xite arrives. Once I get back to my studio, I'll be verifying which slot the PCI-e will get.
GaryB says that we are 'pioneers' in this regard.
It may indeed be possible to at least have two Scopes' running simultaneously - with initially ADAT I/O between the two systems. Not yet sure about any possible IRQ weirdness or Windoze reactions (shouldn't be an issue I don't think)

It should be possible to open 4.5 projects in 5.0.

Many thanks for the reply, Greg.

I'm assuming that V4.5 projects will be compatible, but it's nice to have it verified.

Pioneers for sure! I'm very interested in your "side-by-side" results. An XITE would be a big investment for my humble basement studio, and a big catch is the loss of IOs from my current 3-card system. An A16 or similar would be out of reach for awhile should I take the plunge.

I hadn't thought about the IRQ problems, but in general PCI and PCIe should be separate.

Do you have any info on when yours will arrive?

Other than the preverbial 'soon' - supposedly another shipment is on it's way - but I've been hearing that for weeks now.

At LEAST it will be here before my Summer projects kick in. I may have to forego vacation this Summer and just play with the new toy.
