@ what cpu-load doas you system starts to produce crackles? On 2004-08-02 02:23, sharcsound wrote:
I tried the Registry Mechanic free evaluation version. http://www.winguides.com/ 'Registry Mechanic is an advanced registry cleaner for Windows that can safely clean and repair problems with your registry in a few simple mouse clicks! Easily fix problems with the Windows registry that are a common cause of crashes and error messages.' If you have nothing wrong in the registry you can look elsewhere for the source of SCOPE problems.
I have an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe board running a 3.2 CPU with HT on. The SCOPE board is the only PCI board. A few re-installations of SCOPE 4.0 on top of itself seems to have sorted out any freezing problems I was having.
is it possible, to boost it up to 90%?
just interesting...
best,

Every MIDI byte generates an interrupt I would think, so, I think your assumption is incorrect. On 2004-08-02 13:52, paulrmartin wrote:
Edit: Is it fair to assume that those superfluous MIDI messages should be filtered out BEFORE entering the Pulsars?

Another AndreD tip was to leave the midi keyboard off (or unconnected) until after scope was launched. Strange eh? I don't have these problems although both my midi keyboards send those annoying active sense data.
There's a number of BIOS settings I've made for this mboard that maybe influences the performance. I'll pm you with my phone # in Toronto if you'd like to give me a call - there's too many details to cover reliably in a post.

Well, Dave was certainly fun to talk with on the phone. Thanks, man. Hope to meet you face to face one day
Step-by-step intructions on tweaking my BIOS "LIVE and DIRECT"
Anyways, MIDI is certainly the thing I now have to fix as the computer still froze while I had my back turned.
Any suggestions on what to get?

I have the same board as the other 2 Canadians. The ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE seems to be popular also in Canada, although I bought mine in Munich. All of us had the same SCOPE 4.0 system working fine with our former motherboard. I get freezing that seems to be MIDI related, now only when I play fast with damper pedal actions as well as with the Arp 02. I also get the freeze lock when I play my WX5 windcontroller with lots of pitch bends and fast playing. The computer can't seem to handle the MIDI stream. I read in the SCOPE manual that the card should be in one of the center slots. I use slot 4 with no conflicts but some IRQ and memory sharing with other devices.
I get to Microsoft System Information through MS Word, under Help/About/System Info. Here is some data that I found about my system that might give someone a clue as to where the problem is:

I'm now running the SCOPE board in slot 5 of the ASUS P4C800-E-DELUXE board. I've been having no freezes for the last hour and a half, even though I've been using lots of Mod and Pitch controllers and also using the Arp 02 and my windcontroller. I also connected the MIDI cable after the project was loaded, so now I don't know which change works to stop the freezes, but I am not having any. I will leave the board in slot 5, and it's also on it's own IRQ channel 21 by itself as well.
One other thing I found was that I had a MIDI cable coming out of my Pocket Thru and going back to my Doepfer controller as an input from my pedals for split zones. I haven't been using this and promptly disconnected it. This could have been one of the reasons for the stuck notes with the arppeggiator.
Many thanks Andre. Next time your in Wien come by for a glass of wine.

You can pause the BIOS lines in the beginning of a boot by pressing... Pause.
Strange that u dont have primary master - must it be on slave for it not to boot from the primary, but from third IDE? I suppose the 3rd is S-ATA?
You can disable the 'serial port adress's, and the parallel port, if u don't use them, it saves 3 IRQ's. Also, I think you don't need IRQ for PCI VGA, when an AGP card is installed. See this page.
No idea weither this will solve the problem, but it's how I'd set it up for me...
