just throwing in some thoughts:
I did'n read the whole thread so I might have some wrong assumptions...
I think it would be smart make the CW boards available in the GNU/Linux audio world, because it's an interesting and a growing world (or market if you like).
see as one of many exmples:

I am now spending more time on linux than on windows and OSX, where I originally started.
I'm not a Linux guru at all, but with some help from a friend I managed to set up a great audio/video workstation based on ubuntu linux.
The more I learn about it, the happier I am having made the switch, both philosopically, technically and eventually artistically.
These days there's practically nothing I did have on windows and could'nt find a good (often better) alternative for on linux. And it's all 'free as in freedom'
It would however be nice not to be forced to dump or sell my pulsarII+lunabox but to be able to continue using it. It's still a useful peice of hardware, for the time being...

AFAICS the CW-on-linux story isn't really advancing. Is there any development going on now, or are CW bound by some contracts and promised some big corporations not to share the sources with the community...?
I find it hard to understand a manufacturer of hardware who rejects something that would multiply the list of 'things you can do with the thing', but I gather I'm missing some point there...
anyway, it would be great to see my pulsar's 8ins and 8outs appear in the qjacktcl interface!
what's the status?
