the plugiator seems to be a synth box which is able to run 8 different synths on its architecture.
The 25-plug-in pack is for the scope platform.
I aggree that this is a bit strange because it does really compete with soniccores software offerings.

Wouldn't it be fair, honest and respectful from Use-Audio to inform their customers that their 25 plug-ins bundle for 195 Euro WON'T work with SCOPE 5.0 as clearly mentioned on Sonic Core's website:

hmmmm, could be an interesting device to free some dsp from your scope cards. I bought the plugin bundle a couple of months back, and after a few days i saw that these plugins would not be compatible with scope 5.0. I,ve sended them some emails, and i never got any replies. So I guess they dont really care about their customers after they bought products from them. I highly doubt that I will ever buy anything else from Use-Audio. Fortunately , I got almost all of these plugs the " legal " way, so i am still able to upgrade to scope 5.0 if i want to. Too bad for the 195 euros, i also could have bought Prowave/Qwave.....

Well, I'm sitting in front of a Plugiator right now. I just loaded up the Prodyssey, but I don't see a preset called "Rich Pad." I loaded "Dark Pad" (preset 23) and got 16 voices of poly.

My first impression was underwhelmed, but I'm warming up to the thing the more I play with it. (Maybe I've just been playing with my Voyager and MOTM Modular for the past six months.) As I play with it more, it reminds me of Scope. I had a Pulsar 2 for a while and Minimax sounds about the same. I don't think I had Prodyssey at the time. I have all seven of the available plug-ins installed in my Plugiator so I'm having some fun with it.

The interface is pretty simple, you load up a synth (takes about three seconds) then choose a preset. Five knobs give you parameter edits as you can see on the front panel, and another three for delay and chorus settings. I cranked up the resonance, filter cutoff and played some high keys while changing the filter. I couldn't hear any aliasing or stairstepping when I changed things very fast, and there wasn't any lag either. The knobs are all detented encoders, even the volume know is digital. Some of the knobs have press-to-enter, like the plug-in knob. Any parameter edits you make to the unit are sent over USB to the computer, so you can record a performance with the box. 10 buttons on the front are preset shortcuts, but if you're switching plug-ins then you still have the 2-3 second delay.

Audio ins and outs are 1/4" jacks. I haven't tried plugging in a mic for the Vocoder yet. No digital I/O besides the USB, which I think is MIDI only. There are also standard MIDI in and thru jacks on the rear.

I would feel MUCH more comfortable using this live than a Scope system, no brainer. It's in a solid metal box that looks like it could survive a three story fall. It could defend you in a fight. Simple to use, I haven't cracked a manual yet. So far I like it.

If anyone has questions, give me a shout. I no longer have my Pulsar or I would do an A/B comparison, but I can't imagine it sounds much different than the Creamware stuff.

I don't suppose I'll be able to buy any Zarg plug-ins for this, will I? That would rule, but Soniccore would go nuts...

(The ASB one has the extra Moog filter)

It looks like it IS the ASB version as the filter switch is there. I will check this as soon as possible... on the device.

I just tested an early demo unit, and it's basically the old Creamware favorites in a box with some knobs.
It's cheap, and useful, but definitely no Xite (or what potentially Xite is for the cash).

hmm - that's slightly frustrating as I have all the synths already so it's not worth it to get the thing just for that.

It's really about time Sonicore updated Proddysey to include that switch.

The Prodyssey additionnal switch is maybe not the first thing they focus on.

This thing was done on the ASB and from what I remember all was designed (or should I say repackage with slight enhancements) by InDSP (Use Audio).

This slight step by step enhancement policy seem to be the InDSP/Use Audio policy (evolution rather than revolution). The Plugiator/ASX/X-synth seem to had a few more features to the plug (boost switch ? separate midi channel for B3000 upper/lower pedal, Vocodizer integrating cutdown version of the lightwave...).
This box just looks like a Klangbox integrating the request of some of us:
- multiple plug-in capabilities
- integration of extra devices out of the 4 ASB model like Vocodizer and LightWave
- "new" plug like FMagia and Drum'n'Bass
- preset number display
- the 10 key for direct plug/preset memory which is great for live use.
- ASX/X-synth card versions provide a mean to get a keyboard with a Scope based synth.
while keeping the cost of the box in the same range as the former Klangboxes.

Still a few more step would be necessary to get to the "NOAH for the masses" concept among these are:
- 4 part multitimbral capability even with slight polyphony restrictions (which could be possible through software update)
- a modular 3 for plugiator to get something like the former Clavia MicroModular (software but with some much bigger technical difficulties to solve I think)
- alphanumeric preset display (which would request a new hardware controller part)


The SonicCore developpement policy seems to be more ambitious.
Xite-1 would provide a DSP power jump while keeping all the advantages of the Scope system towards NOAH (Scope is more flexible as NOAH) and partly solving the mobility problem by offering a way to use it with mobile computer (you still need a computer to make it work though).

Now, if SC they could easily achieve this Prodyssey update, it would be fine if they also could do it for the NOAH version !!!

By the way, I would rather be excited by a new plugin merging the 3 plugin available as ASB into one.
A 4-part multitimbral hardware version including a controller in the spirit of the ASB would be even better.
The SOLARIS could be a solution to get this come true...

Just one thing more:

- Xite-1 is announced to be available at a price of 3200 € / 4000 $ (for 10 x the DSP power of a Scope Pro board which would means 150 x 21065L old DSP chip)
- Plugiator is now available at a price of 366 € / 450 $ for almost the power of a NOAH Ex (10 x 21065L DSP)

so both products definetly do not play in the same market !!!

The Xite-1 has to compete against UAD2 / Duende / Liquid Mix / Powercore or even Protools hardware in the range of the all-in-one solution for DAW systems.

The Plugiator has to face the competition of the Waldorf Blofeld (kind of MicroWave/MicroQ best of in a small box), DSI Evolver, Korg Radias, Access Virus TI Snow, Clavia NordLead 2x rack, Minimax/Pro12/Prodyssey ASB ... in the range of the virtual analog synths.

Xite-1 price is out of my budget range for now (though I already spent almost this amount of money through the last 3 years for all my CreamWare gears leading me to have a total of 46 old DSP in my DSP-farm now splitted between my PC, my old PowerMac and my NOAH Ex !!!).
I will probably wait for a cutdown version of the Xite-1.
I would just find it great if the Xite-1 was designed as a DSP modular system offering people the opportunity to buy a basic system and then expand it up to the full Xite-1 level by acquiring expansion boards.
Meanwhile the plugiator could be a funny cheap companion to my NOAH !!!
