Acpi multiprocessor,uniprocessor,standard pc,mps multiprocessor....NOTHING!
Disabling ht,disabling apic 2.0 support,disabling onboard audio,lan,usb...NOTHING!
Reinstall x 4 .... NOTHING!
No sharing on irq's,changing from pci slot 1-5...NOTHING!
Installed new aspi...NOTHING!
When I start cubase without sfp,I have freezes after 15 minutes...when I start it WITH sfp, processor jumps from 30-70%...and no channel is recorded.
I am really angry, and I am thinking of selling all this shit.
So,can anyone in this universe tell me WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER?

Asus c800edeluxe
p4 3.0 box
1 gb ram
80 gb maxtor
geforce 4

Thanks

That is strange,I recall that I tried to disconnect midi in sfp,and then there was no cpu spikes.
Ulli-24 miliseconds.
AndreD,I saw this setup at one music studio, but they have Yamaha sw1000xg,and it runs like a charm. So,I think this have something to do with my Luna.
If there is no solution to this problem,I will be forced to sell my Luna and to go for Yamaha...I payed for rock-solid music daw,and got freezes...
So guys, you are only ones that can help...
thanks

...better, get yourself a small usb-midi-interface...
luna IS a nice card and my first choice due to the lantency free routing and mixing features.
luna can bring your whole studio setup together and there is no hw mixer needed anymore.

for 99 bucks, you will get 1 realtime-instance (on a luna) of p100 by the way.
a 2nd reason to stay..

No,I don't want to give up on CW,I think that creamware luna is great card...no doubt in that! But,you can understand me-I spent all money that I earned for-nothing!
Hey,for last 2 hours I had no crashes...hmmmm,I am now in mps(or something) multiprocessor mode, with enabled ht,installed aspi,no irq sharing, luna is sitting on pci slot 3,irq 44,tweaked xp system...
Maybe my geforce is making troubles?I plan to buy two hard disks next week, and to go with RAID,but if things remain the same(freezes),I think I give up,and go with new computer.Maybe I can buy some ATI graphic?
Again,when I tried to play games,no problems.Actually,my brother did,and he played hmmmm...shooting game ,I don't know which one,but it is new game...no problems...when I'm recording cd's...no problems...watching dvd movies...no problems...but when I'm try to record music ((...freezes...
thanks guys...I have hope that somebody will help, somebody else must had this problem...

raid make no sense on a daw...

you have 2 options:

-wait for a scope update that fixes this problem

-buy a cheap usb midi-interface

P4C800e dlx does work with CW cards - I run one with 2 Scope boards, no freezing. So there must be some variables in your setup causing the problem.

I have ACPI, no HT, Scope boards in slots 1 & 5, Matrox AGP video card, 3 EIDE HDs, USB2 DVD and a heavily tweaked Win XP home (9 processes running at bootup). I've disabled other onboard devices on the mboard (audio, firewire, SATA, extra USB...)

AndreD has lots of experience troubleshooting this problem, and his Midi suggestions (don't connect Scope midi input until after project opened, consider a USB midi alternative) have helped some. If it is a midi realted problem, it seems to be caused by "active sensing" midi data coming from the external midi controller. But for some reason this data doesn't freeze my system, so it must be in combination with some other factor, maybe HT (which I don't use), maybe even the type of video card.

I'll try to help any way I can, but it seems there are no universal setups, each system has it's own personality. Do you have the latest BIOS (P4ced17) for the mboard?

Helo guys, and thanks for quick replies,
Dbmac:I tried to email you,I don't know if you got my email ,because I saw that you have same motherboard.I tried to disable ht,but no results-freezing is all I got. No,I didn't updated my bios to latest version, but I will do that.I don't have floppy in my computer, will I need one for updating my bios?
About raid:as I understood, raid is faster and better than standard ide hard disks(I don't know much about that tehnology),but you are telling me that it is not worth buying?(2x80gb hard disks are about 150 euros here).
I have triton le keyboard, and it is set to "external",so it's not sending any midi to scope(in theory...).
I didn't updated my geforce 4 drivers, but right now I will try to download new drivers.
I don't have scope 4,maybe there lies problem? It is too big to download(I am on modem phone line),and too expensive to get on cd(cd is not expensive, but shipping costs will be)...but if that is solution,I will try to get it...but I read somewhere that there is no new drivers, just new look, and that people still have problems with new sfp.
about midi interface:I read somewhere that somebody solved his problems with that, but the problem is that if I buy that interface,I can't return it in case that it won't help, and I don't need it for anything else...and right now I don't have much money to spend...just hard disk upgrades, and MAYBE graphic card...
dbmac:Can you somehow get screenshotss of your bios settings? That will be biggest help, because I suspect that I am doing something wrong in bios...thanks.If you can,you can send it to muzickimag@yahoo.com

thanks agains guys, planetz is always biggest help..
regards

Why?
I saw raid in action 2 days ago,no problems there...
But I noticed that when they hit SOLO track, performance jumps for 30% up!And that was strange for me.
Raid?

darkstar, you don't need raid.
if you want a copy of 4.0 i'd send it to you, no big deal. i have used tritons with sfp 3.1 and 4.0 with no problems.

Okay guys, can somebody explain me why is raid unusuable?Because some people told me that it is big improvement...
Gary, about sfp 4.0-is it big update,or same drivers?BEcause I don't want to bother you if it's just new look...
Thanks,
best regards

same drivers, but improved functionality...

raid uses more resources than ide or sata and any performance gain is probably unnessessary as you can get plenty of tracks on ide or sata.

RAID is used to write in parallel to multiple drives for data protection isn't it?
I think SCSI drives are more efficient for that configuration.

Hello,
As I understand, you CAN setup raid to write on 2 hard disks at same time(mirroring I think it is called),but you can setup it to write"NORMALLY",just on one hd.
Somebody told me that raid drives are like scsi, same speed.
