Hi everyone,
My brother Jared and I have just started up a new business called "Indieanna." While we ultimately intend to provide a diverse range of services, our first phase is a "Remote Studio" service. What this means is that we are available to mix, edit, and master recordings, create beautiful album artwork and a splashy Web site, and various other tasks, all over the Internet for independent musicians. We employ a sophisticated Web-based communication system that enables to do the work remotely, while keeping in close contact with the artist. To learn more about our new and exciting services, please visit our Web site at: http://www.indieanna.com .
Why is this on PlanetZ? Because we use Scope in our studio for much of the mixing and mastering! Be sure to listen to our audio examples to hear our work.
Yours in music,
Shayne White

I like the idea Shayne.
I would be curious to hear your experiences especially with the "online edit lists" approach. Please do let us know what your clients say!
If done well, this direction could be the future of independent music production.
Cheers,
Johann
(Edit: just a note -- "OMF" is short for "OMFI", which stands for "Open Media Framework Interchange" -- not "Open Music Format".
)

Hey, thanks, guys!
I'll go ahead and change the OMF thing...I was certain I'd read somewhere that OMF stood for "Open Music Format." Thanks for the correction!
Cheers,
Shayne

Web site looks great.
As a writer I have to say that the copy is also very well written.
I'm guessing that the question on everyone's mind is "how much will it cost me to have my own website?" At $55 USD/hour (which is a perfectly reasonable rate), I'm guessing that even the cheapest web presence will still be hundreds of dollars....?
Way out of my range, unfortunately.
Good luck with it!

Hi Shayne
Very nice looking site - I really like the first thing that hits you, which is the guitar/keyboard picture - very warm & relaxing for the eyes.
I wish you and your brother all the best with your exciting new venture! Take some bravery I reckon.
Now, I wouldn't be a pedantic programmer without offering a few minor criticisms, so here goes...
The first thing I didn't quite like was this line, which is right at the top of page one:
"incredible and unimaginable new"
I have a problem with the word "unimaginable" - I think that musicians have good imagination, I certainly feel that I have!
Perhaps "undreamt of" or "unthought of"?
'Unimaginable' is restrictive, whereas the other two phrases lead you into the unknown, which is OK by me
In my browser, the "home, about the company, the future" links are quite hard to spot as the letters are very close in colour to their background - it's a nice effect for them to change colour when the mouse is over them, though. I found myself squinting when looking at them.
In firefox, when I click on the studio service link, the frame scroll bars disappear, so you can't see the rest of the text! If I click in the text frame and then 'down arrow', the whole window scrolls, rather than the frame. Note that this does not happen with the 'web design', 'visual arts' & 'faq' links - the scroll bars are then shown as they should be. I feel it is very important to have the site as 100% BUG-free as possible if you're to back up your web-design claims!
The last thing I wasn't sure about is the fact that you're using the firefox logo - is there a copyright issue with that?
Hope you don't minmd the critique.
Royston

Yes, very nice. A good looking site.
but since this is thread also with some constructive criticism, I'll add mine:
On the web design page the heading says: "The Internet: your ticket to the future"
Considering that anyone who reads that is already on the web, it's a bit cheesey and meaningless.
Maybe take something from your blurb like:
The Internet: The world's best marketing machine

Thanks everyone for all your comments and suggestions! We'll review the text on our site and take what you said into consideration.
Royston: OK, maybe "unimaginable" *is* insulting.
There are plenty of better words to use there, and we'll change it in some way. As for the scroll bar in "Studio Services", there actually isn't supposed to be one there; the page is quite short. The problem is that the "scroll frame" text is still present -- we'll fix that right away! (It was a last minute addition and we forgot to check up on the pages.)
Spirit and Tom: I think "the ticket to your future" does sound better. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!
Bingo: Did you look at the last entry in the FAQ?
Cheers,
Shayne

Sorry, this is my silly fault - I'd increased the text size in Firefox! That's why I couldn't see all of the text...
