Hello,

Just a question on hyperthreading. It's probably been asked before, so just in case my apologies.
As far as I know, I have hyperthreading enabled and everything works fine. However, I recently bought the Komplete 2 package from Native Instruments (great by the way!!!)and everything worked smoothly except for B4. It kept causing my PC to crash and I have not been able to get it going at all. Support at Native instruments say I should disable Hyperthreading and exit Scope when installing B4.
My question is: Seeing I have everything working smoothly now (except B4), should I leave things as they are and just live with the fact that I don't have B4 working? Does hyperthreading disabled present any problems (such as decreased performance)? Does it matter at all whether I have hyperthreading enabled or disabled? What changes?

Thanks in advance for your response(s)

Which sequencer do you use?
If Cubase SX2 you could try enabling 'old host behaviour' for B4 in plugin information

Different versions of the P4 core have different HT implementations. The first few HT implementations were so bad that they were only supported on the XEON level chips (even thought technically the core was the same as the consumer p4 chip). The most current (P4e) core is pretty efficient and shows an increase with most applications when HT is enabled, but your mileage may vary depending on application still.

To my knowledge only Steinberg claims to support HT in their applications, though I have severe doubts about their 30% increases they advertise (I have a dual system I built to realize the potential of Steinberg's dual cpu support, and found that it wasn't up to what was advertised either).

Personally I'd say try disabling HT and see if you notice the loss...

To Plato,

To answer your question:
I use Logic 5.5.1 (PC) and Cubase SX 2. I prefer using Logic though.

Regards and thanks for your reply.
